Thoughts of the Everyday-ness of Life ~
“Hey Fred…I have a question…a problem really : “How do I clean my heart and mind of toxic thoughts and feelings ?”
Well my friend, personally I oft-times simply recite the myriad names for / of God, ("The Creative and Sustaining Power of the Universe" from the various Traditions) and that helps fill me.
The name “God” I believe carries an energetic vibration that clears and heals and energizes…
However, the Practice I employ to cleanse my self daily of toxicity goes something like this :
Well first, let me share something…
I attended the old Kelley School, across the street from Donnely park in Cambridge, Mass.
We had a Janitor who remains in my heart to this day because of his kindness.
Whenever anyone would vomit in our school (which seems to have happened often), our Janitor would come with his broom (yes, broom), the dust pan and a large container of sawdust. He would apply a large amount of sawdust onto the said pile and allow it to soak-up whatever was there. When done, he would sweep-up the resultant pile and be on his way!
YUK … FRED, that stinks ! Indeed, yet it teaches us a valuable lesson; since from time to time we all must vomit. Somehow, the body knows when it has got something to rid itself of, something toxic, and vomiting is a forceful and rather complete way of doing it…and, don’t we feel better afterwards…(not accounting for the ‘taste’ mind you).
My Chi Gung / Meditation Master B.K. Frantzis shared with me that while he was studying in China (the China of Mao) he carried with him at all times a container of SALT. He ate on the local economy, and every once in a while he would eat something that would set his body off, and he had to rid himself of it immediately; so he would grab a glass of water and head for the nearest bathroom / water closet, mix his salt with the water and gulp it all down, and vomit the poisons and toxic ingestions.
Toxic thoughts / attitudes / mindsets etc can sicken us as well, poisoning our lives and destroying our happiness…as well as the happiness of others… Those of the Taoist Water School of Taoism know early on when things ‘not conducive to our good health’ have entered into our lives / practices, and that we should expel them as quickly and completely as possible!
THUS... now we come to a rather beautiful and very effective practice of dealing with the toxicities of daily life…much the same as the “sawdust above”…
HOW TO :
After I perform the “Taoist Bone Marrow Cleansing” practice , I simply Stand and re-establish my Breath. At the same time, I bring my hands to a folded position over my Sternum / Middle Tantien / Heart Chakra; hand-upon-hand, with my left hand over said position covered by my right hand. (Women will wish to place their right hand on their chest and cover it with their left hand, as women are right-side positive, energetically), and have the Lao Gungs (centers of the palms) aligned (kinda) ).
Here I Stand, “Shen Sung”, relaxed into my very being…who I really am, feeling for the connection with all humankind, the beating of my Heart…and I simply bask in the feeling!
Upon my In-hale, I breathe Love into the very center of my being – my heart, allowing this divine love to saturate and fill my heart, my very being.
Upon my Ex-hale, I relax and release and breathe-out this love to everyone everywhere! Along with this love goes the toxicity as well, the stale, spent, stagnant and toxic Chi, all my brokenness, graspings etc…to be refactored as cosmic compost…
How long ?
Until I am done with this most important work; until I am clear and cleansed of toxicity of any kind…and I feel clean and refreshed.
Breathing In , I allow love to saturate and fill my heart
Breathing Out, I send this love to everyone everywhere…
“Bitter is made sweet through love, copper becomes gold through love. Through love dregs become clear; love heals all pain. Through love the King becomes slave; for love brings the dead to life.” ~ Rumi
