People are often puzzled to read statements about Warriors , as it conjures-up thoughts; perhaps of war-mongering, BasketBall Teams, Savages replete with Spears and Blow-guns, and maybe, just maybe Spiritual people, Warriors of Peace, Spiritual Warriors, etc. not to mention the Warrior-Priest !  

 Last summer I recieved "The Gift of Hafiz", a book of poetry, written by  a man so deep and so mystical, that he has been called "The Tongue of the Invisible" !   Often I write about Life as a Path, and those on that Path  as Pilgrims and Warriors , on their  way Home. Ours is not an easy Path, as it is sometimes lonely , but it is always worthwhile !   This Path does require something...a depth of honesty, courage and of course Matri...Loving-kindness...and an Openness to allow and to "Let Go" of the unnecessary, in order to become...  

Interesting...New Sins ? As if we don't have enough already !   As a child growing-up in South Boston I attended Catholic Church .  

Now I read about New Sins :    7 Deadly Sins...Now More to Fear ...Whew !  

Seven Deadly sins apparently aren't enough anymore ! To the long-standing list of Sloth, Envy, Gluttony, Greed, Lust, Wrath and Pride, we now have added as of last month : Genetic Experiments, Mind-damaging Drugs, (thus so we won't become Drain Bamaged) Pollution, and the  Growing Gap between Rich and Poor...Sins ! Last year , as I remember the list was expanded to include Drunk -Driving and Road Rage. All this , and the Ten Commandments as well...WHEW !  What's a person to do ? And is it true that cardinal sins are sine committed by Cardinals ?  

This is a short Blog entry; but perhaps deeper than it seems...

This morning the Ancient Taoist Sage and I walked silently together after our morning Practice.

Then, as our time came to a close, the Old Sage looked at me and simply said :

"THE CHIEF CAUSE OF FAILURE AND UNHAPPINESS...

  IS TRADING WHAT WE WANT MOST... FOR WHAT WE WANT AT THE MOMENT !"

Just a thought...

"WHAT CAN MAKE MUDDY WATER CLEAR ?"

As I wrote this on Monday, it was the thrid anniversary of the death of Terry Schiavo...

Boy, did that Muddy the waters, and did I write... perhaps some of you do not know that I am / was a Cleric...and my special area was Ethics, (Perhaps from having been formerly involved deeply with Government work).

Monday was also the birthday of British Novelist John Fowels, who penned these words in his work , "The Aristos" :  "Show the young sailor how to sail; but don't so falsify the compass and the chart that he can sail in only one direction".

The Ancient Taoist Sage said as we were discussing our thinking minds, that "primary reality lies within" ; and thus a good question to ask throughout the day is:

What type or kinds of thoughts is my mind producing? How about yours ?

Like that great Texan, Charlie Tremendous Jones was fond of saying:

"We need a check-up from the neck-up to get rid of our stinking thinking."
