  • Taoist I Ching Meditation: The Eight Energies of Change
    PrintPrint E-mailE-mail

    October 31 to November 4, 2010

The most profound emotional and spiritual development is initiated with Taoist meditation, which originates from the I Ching, the classic text and fundamental basis of Taoism. More than 5,000 years old, the I Ching is about the nature of change and how it occurs—the mother lode of how yin and yang mix in complex variations. According to Taoist thought, the primal eight energies give shape to the universe through their interplay, and thereby influence all eight energy bodies that comprise our being: the physical, etheric/chi, emotional, mental, psychic and causal, and the body of individuality and body of the Tao. This is the first time Bruce has offered a weeklong retreat in Europe on the subject of the I Ching. The intellectual context of the teachings along with sufficient exposure to the transmissions will help you make the leap from a purely mental understanding how to embody the principles of the I Ching. Bruce will attempt to help you recognize the energy of some of the eight trigrams through meditation practices.

Students who have a solid foundation in Taoist meditation, are familiar with the I Ching and already have a moving meditation practice will:
    • Learn how to use techniques from the 16-part neigong system to affect the first seven energy bodies
    • Explore how to resolve karmic patterns
    • Begin resolving the dissonance between their inner world and the realities of living a life
    • Start the process of developing the full potential of the spirit.

The emphasis in this course will be on bending and stretching the body from the inside out and from the outside in along the direction of the yin and yang acupuncture meridians. Using these chi methods will help a person wake up and avoid becoming sleepy or groggy while they practice meditation. More advanced practitioners will learn neigong methods to dissolve internal blockages and strengthen internal awareness.
