I have learn 8 piece brocade from a dvd that I bought on Amazon uk. It was very good for me and my body. I think it’ s a good start for beginners. But now I want to discover more forms of Qigong. But I want some advices where to start?
I’m looking for a form of Qigong that is “allround”. Smoother body, more strong, against pain in lower back, anti-stress, (more happy), body healing etc. I have a child with adhd and it’s both physically and mentally demanding even if he just 5 years old. I runs a lot but I think Qigong is a very goog complement. Eight piece of brocade have done me more alert. I hope I can get some advices for other qigong form to test!? Sorry for my english! I’m from Europe.

Hello there- best of luck in your seeking. -getting a good start, building a foundation, (and getting used to working with a chigung/neigong set), is a great entry-pt; glad to hear you found some benefits from what you’ve learned.
(In terms of what is next, it tricky in terms of what aspects your resonate with, which aspects you connect-with and like) -just as someone that has learned/researched these arts (not directly associated with EnergyArts the company), i have found what Bruce teaches/presents to be some of the best stuff out there- in relation to over and above what else can be found- but that is just me, but just to context (other systems can get you moving, and practicing, but may be less energetically-engaged).

I think the practice of “Circling Hands” (part of the Marriage of Heaven&Earth system set, but taking the “internal components” and putting them in to a simplified “circling” motion coordinated with growing/shrinking as reach out/unfold arms, and then bring in arms/fold inward… linking in joint-movement, twist-turning of soft tissue.. etc…
(this is a very simple outward shape “Container” (picture hands as if on a wheel in front of your torso- as that wheel turns).. so less intricate in terms of movements, so easy to practice when you have a moment, but also the “internal components” then can be “put-into” other sets (like 8 pieces, if you wanted to insert more in that).

There are videos on the energyartsvideos channel on YouTube of this, and some other examples there, as well as on this website- showing different sets
    …………….
another way to go (actually my first thought) was to recommend “Gods Playing the Clouds” 6 movement set, which I believe seems to be an older chigung for which the 8 Pieces may have derived from, at least in “G. Playing” set is taught be Bruce with quite a bit more going on it it.. (can be done lightly, with little attention to the moves, and still have results, or you can feel-follow more…
    — this may require learning from an instructor..

    ………..
I’d recommend checking out the info and video-clips on this site for “Dragon&Tiger chigung” (DVD and books) as well as the 5 Keys online program (which has a few core movements presented which may be what you are looking for.

[ if you look at these, and it brings up further thoughts on what grabs-you or clarifies what you are interested in developing, your further question might receive other fdbk. — best wishes, and good english actually :) ]

The answer is Dragon & Tiger Qigong, it is designed for exactly what you need. I suggest you try it.

The DVD is very high quality tuition, fast to learn, but also does refinements and transitions.

    Thanks for your informative answers!

Just to start somewhere I think I order the book Volume 1 of Dragon and tiger and the book about Energy Gates. The dvd had been great but I can’t find it in Europe.

    Dragon & Tiger is SUPER.

I started practicing Yang Style Tai Chi in 1993.

When Bruce’s book on Dragon & Tiger came out in 2008
    I bought it immediately.
At that time it was my only source that showed how to shift your weight onto one leg while turning from the hip joint
(Movement 2, “Shift Weight While Turning.”)
    The diagrams were perfect.
You don’t need an instructor or a DVD to learn it.

In 2010 Bruce produced his DVD.
    It’s great.
(But I really learned the Form from the book.
    No live instructor needed.)

In 2014 Bruce published Volume 2 of D&T.
    The refinements are excellent.

    I’ve been showing students D&T since 2009.
To my great disappointment, only one student (out of hundreds) has been interested enough to fully learn it.
    (It’s only 7 movements.)

I’ve loaned out a lot of materials on the Yang Style 24-Short Form.
But no one has asked to borrow the D&T material.
    I can’t figure why.

I do D&T every morning (takes only 10 minutes.)
I’ve incorporated The Five Elements into it
(along with their negative and positive emotions.)
I’ve incorporated the Six Healing Sounds into it.
I’ve incorporated “The Inner Smile” into it (Mantak Chia and Michael Winn.)
I’ve incorporated the I-Ching into it.

But still I can’t figure out why players don’t take to it.
(Well, actually players really do like to do the finger and toe flicks in Movement 2 “Dragon Looks to the Horizon.”
Even kids like to flick fingers and toes–Some kids I see a year later and they are still flicking.)

I show it once a month to all my classes
(beginners, intermediates, master bagua instructors, kids, seniors, Parkinson’s, sit-and-be fit…)

    True story:
In 2014 the Bozeman team (green dragon boat) of the Montana Dragon Boat race had always placed only 2nd.
Just by chance in a campground I showed the captain of the team “Dragon Looks to the Horizon.” I told the captain that they’d kill the competition with kindness. That afternoon they won !st place!

    Study Dragon and Tiger sincerely.

    Hey Par,

Personally, i started with taichi and qigong classes 5 years ago, and not one lesson/class has been the same. that’s also because my teacher is a fan of diversity .
So I think you can’t go wrong anyway, anyhow. but i do think it’s very important to do classes, let someone correct you on the way you stand and move. to me that’s the most important part.
next to that, a combination of qigong excercises (any) and a taichi form ( for a beginner chen or yang style) is highly reccomendable in my experience.

so a combination of taichi and qigong (in one practice session!) and a good teacher, that’s the most important thing if you ask me. good luck with your search! btw feel free to visit our class in the netherlands! the website is: http://www.tao-shi.nl and the name of my teacher is Jorke van Eerten.

    Walter
