After practicing sinking for 4 years, having read the book a million times, everything related to this set online, as well the advice of experienced teachers and other practicioners, Im now starting to dabble in the idea of learning Outer Dissolving.

As I was practicing to the Energy Gates audio practice it felt to me that as I sank and scanned down my body, allowing everything to go sung, that perhaps I was already dissolving. I could be wrong but as long as everything goes sung doesnt that mean that my blockages will too?

Bruce talks about aiming to make sinking, scanning, dissolving one seamless process. Could it be that Im dissolving without knowing it? whereby any blockage that comes up along the way is dissolved as a result of my going fully sung? Has anyone ever learned dissolving this way? Is it possible?

Id love to hear others experience of how the process of learning Outer Dissolving went for them. You are all a part of my journey and I am gratefull.

    Cheers,

    Hi kevin,
I have been doing the standing and dissolving from the five keys online for one year and more or less the same experience like you.Qigong is a lonely venture where we are always wandering whether we are doing it correction. When you do sinking why are you not dissolving as they logically goes together. Going song/relax and correct standing alignment is simply to put our body in a position such that the energy in the body can flow freely. The qi do not flow down the body may be because the mind still haven’t learn to connect to the qi to work the qi. One way to get a quicker connection is to use the breath as a go between. When we breath into a body part and put our mind there, the feeling of qi is heightened. We take a qi bath daily from the crown to the ground underneath. My experience with qigong in general is that when I try somethings new I always felt the qi or even some body uneasiness in the beginning. After a few rounds I then feel nothing or much less. I wonder is it because the new qi activity is normal now and so I don’t feel any thing. Just like that qi is moving in our body all the time and we are never aware of it. When doing the sinking and if I have an achy body parts like liver area or abdominal area I will breath into it and mentally repeat the water to gas instruction, I do five six slow breathing and the ache disappear, in this way I am encourage that I am actually doing something right. I do not bother whether I am doing inner or outer dissolving because I have no intention to progress to inner dissolving because inner dissolving is going into deep, subtle and even spiritual stuff. I am doing meditation daily(not Bruce’S) which I believe can take care of inner subtle problem. When I wake up in the morning I find my first finger have an arthritic feeling and I try to dissolve it by the usual method and it won’t work, maybe dissolving is no good for that. Maybe dissolving process works best on ache and pain which are usually qi congestion or blockage.I regularly remind my self to be in the body and pay more attention the the body where the qi is suppose to pass.I consider the routine as daily maintenance to clean and also to prepare the body for later qigong– energy gate, dragon and tiger, H&E. I am particularly interested in forming a root at the end of the sinking for that will confirm that I am doing correctly and well. But I don,t seem to have a solid physical feeling. I always ended with the sole of my foot harder or solid cushion feeling and when I face the palms down to stir the ground as in dragon and tiger I always feel vibration all over on my leg. By the way, sometimes I think that sinking gives you a reluctant feeling like you are a naughty child who wants to avoid bathing. I then told myself to relax feel the qi all around me and inside me and enjoy it. Now a day, I give myself three sinking down and take about 5 minutes which I think is the minimum times but I felt I have done OK.
Why are you asking about dissolving when you do not have a blockage feeling? Mostly in my sinking I don,t feel any blockage or any thing abnormal. I then wonder is it because I am insensitive or the body is use to it and so I am not registering anything. I have a chronic liver congestion so that whenever I use a computer I felt a strong ache in my liver spot. So when I sink qi to the liver area I sometimes breathe into it a few times telling myself the liver got some old stain that need regular cleaning. I think because of that it is very much better now. I think when we do qigong we realize we clear and cure some chronic problem that we don,t know how to otherwise.
I hope we can share some experience and as you said we can learn something from each other.
