Hey guys, Happy New Years to everyone. I have noticed that when I practice Energy Gates in the evening, I have difficulty falling alseep. Is this something that is supposed to happen? Am I doing something wrong? Has anyone ever experienced symptoms like this? Thanks for any insight.
This tai chi training was a tranformational experience, breaking through one's sense of expectations, releasing stagnant areas in the body, mind and spirit.
Hi Sudeep,
Simply put, your energizing yourself...
It's like having 2 shots of espresso without the buzz feeling.
To avoid this don't Open the Energy Gates before bed.
If you add a "Fire" method flare to the practice as opposed to a "Water" method flare, the energy can be stronger.
Every and any time I do energy work in the evening ( i chuan, san ti, energy gate, heaven & earth qigong) I get energized also, but that's what I want to happen at those times.
Anyway...
practice well,
Steve
Hi sudeep
I practice my taiji form every night before bed, it's a real relaxer for me.
but it's not like im focusing on learning something or really getting anything moving, im just moving smoothly, and letting everything settle. my chi, my mind, my body, and whatever else isn't smooth and relaxed.
you might try allowing your intent and energy really get soft when you practice it, and also you might do less of, or completely avoid the 3rd swing (as it's the one that raises energy the most) for your bedtime practice.
Are you having this be your main practice time? you might find a better time. first thing in the morning is excellent training time, great for getting your energy going. I do my more focused learning practice in the daytime, when I have time, or earlier in eve. Learning the new stuff or trying to get to that next level is intense work for the nerves and intent, and I find that sleep is easier if you don't do anything too brain stimulating in the last 2 hours before you try to sleep. that also would include not using any electronic devices (very stimulating to eyes, those I pads) and TV is a real sleep wrecker, Id stay away from it before bedtime.(if ya can't just chuck the damn thing altogether:-)
hope this helps, and best of training...
