When practicing Taijijuan or Qiging, I notice that breathing through the nose becomes full and easy. This is amazing because, in normal times, my nasal capacity is maybe just 1/4 of that or less.

So I wonder if I should do things like nose-washing and allergy treatment to improve breathing during physical activity (e.g. Taijijuan) or if more physical activity will make the nasal capacity more permanent? Of course I won’t take your advice as legal-medical-authority, but I’m marked at how proper Chi work (as opposed to flakey, fluffy feel-good arm waving in a room full of candles and crystal flowers) does improve many aspects of comfortable and capable health.

    Hi Robin

    I do what works.

You are obviously doing what works through qigong :)

Personally I also use a nasal wash as I get the stuffy nose syndrome from time to time, sometimes worse than others.

I use a saline solution, one you can purchase called Sterimar
then there is the full nasal wash you can buy called neil med..

Some times I use a salt sole solution I prepare myself in accordance with the Water & Salt book by Barbara Hendel, Peter Ferreira

You posted this over 2 years ago, hope you continue to improve.

Just get a NoseBuddy neti pot. The Indian yogis had this stuff sorted thousands of years ago, and frankly the “western” versions are retarded and simply designed to make you poor.

Western version is good so long as it help to give immediate relief. it make life comfortable and if our congestion is not too bad it might just go away for good. But often we got congestion all the time and it is a symptom of underlying general health weakness.
In my middle age years I got congestion for years and I rely on decongestant to relief the discomfort and I ended up with nasal polyps twice which have to be remove by surgery.
I think taking anti-allergy medicine together with herds or supplement to boost the general health can be a permanent solution.
If qigong works for you, that could be all that you need. Qigong brings up your general health but it is a gradual process that will probable take six months to one year to happen.
There is no particular effective qigong set for they are all meant to boost general health. If I make a guess I think Heaven & Earth is the best for it is energy building and good for the lungs or so I think. I think another good movement is the first movement in Dragon and Tiger—i.e. dragon and tiger meet. meanwhile experiment and try to improve the qigong exercise.
I am no authority on health because I think I got the same kind of problem and although I am fine now I am not exactly sure how I solve it.I keep experimenting with my health and it improve slowly until I am just O.K.
I am a beginner in qigong and I like to talk about qigong for I learn by looking up and taking part in forum. Sometimes it seems like talking to myself and that can be learning too. Right?

LOL Daniel, yes I do that too, talk to myself in the forum here :) but you are right sometimes we end up answering our own questions and it is all a learning process and it is also helpful to hear about how things are going with other members.

I am enjoying Dragon and Tiger.

I will look out for you in other parts of the forum :)

    Best wishes June
