Gods Qigong with Bagua Single + Double Palm Changes Option | Paul Cavel

Cologne, Germany

25 to 30 August 2012

Gods Qigong and bagua share a unique goal: to integrate the entire neigongi system into one coherent whole. They also share the same modus operandi: to engage and operate the whole body through the six directions (up/down, forward/back and left/right) in a spherical manner.

Since Gods Qigong is the hand that fits inside the bagua glove, both groups will begin with Gods Qigong on Saturday and Sunday to learn or review the fundamental structures that underpin the neigong being taught. All the internal aspects found in Gods Qigong power bagua’s external form—without which bagua would be only an empty shell.

On Monday, you may choose to remain in the Gods group to go deeper into the internals and energetics, or join the bagua palm changes group (beginners welcome). Both groups will focus on creating spherical motion. Paul will present various threads of neigong to build your form and include aspects for developing your mind’s intent.

Beginners will study:

  • Bending and stretching techniques
  • Biomechanical body alignments
  • Opening and closing the joints
  • Twisting
  • Circularity;
  • Along with breathing methods and energetic flows.

Intermediate and advanced practitioners will integrate the above neigong content along with:

  • Opening and closing the cavities
  • Physical mechanics and energetics that underlie spherical motion
  • Generating power from the spine
  • Cultivating strong chi circulation
  • Leading integrated motion from the lower tantien.

Accepting 24 students only to ensure everyone receives hands-on corrections and personal feedback from Paul. Beginners welcome!

Wu Style Tai Chi Short Form | Paul Cavel

Camden, West-Central London WC1

18 August-8 December 2012

Starting with Circularity in Tai Chi on 18 August 2012,  Paul will teach five one-days seminars, on the Wu style:

  • Saturday, 18 August 2012
  • Saturday, 6 October 2012

  • Saturday, 8 December 2012

In the four remaining classes, Paul will teach the 27-move Wu Style Tai Chi Short Form, offering beginning and advanced tracks of study.

Internal content will be layered to help you:

  • Create whole-body motion by connecting the limbs to the spine.
  • Remove blockages in the body on three levels—soft tissues, fluids and chi.
  • Balance the body on the left and right sides, as well as the upper and lower halves.
  • Awaken and develop the circulation of chi through the safe exercise system of tai chi.

Experienced stylists: Paul is willing to take you as far as you are willing and able to go, and will focus on helping you upgrade the quality of your core structure (legs, kwai and spine) for health and power-generating benefits.

Accepting 20 students only to ensure everyone receives hands-on corrections and personal feedback from Paul in every class. Beginners welcome!

Optional Neigong Classes Add-on: Paul has carefully crafted five additional classes to specifically work on balancing, deepening and refining neigong content—that which is ultimately responsible for generating the health and healing benefits.

Wu Style Long Form Tai Chi | Brian Cooper

Brighton, England

2-3 June 2012

For the 1st time, Brian is offering a series of workshops on the Wu style long form tai chi as taught to him by Master Bruce Frantzis.

The Wu style Tai Chi long form that will be taught was developed by Wu style co-founder Wu Jien Chuan. He personally taught it to Liu Hung Chieh, who taught it to Bruce who taught it to Brian. The form takes 20 to 30 min to complete.

Although a little more complex in its movements than the Yang style, the Wu style is particularly suited to our present times with its slightly smaller stances and the emphasis on protecting injuries in the body such as knee and back problems. The long form, traditionally made up of 108 named postures actually contains thousands of small gestures each with their own meaning and purpose.

The tai chi form is divided into 3 sections, each section having its own characteristics but including elements and movements from the previous sections.

  1. The 1st section; called the crane section, has its emphasis on the correct alignment of the body.
  2. The 2nd section; called the tiger section works on lengthening the tissues of the body and opening the joints and ligaments.
  3. The 3rd section; called the snake section works on deep internal twisting, in circles and spirals.

This particular Wu style tai chi also carries within it the technology that Taoists used for their moving meditation practices. This makes it particularly useful in our present stressful times to use the form as a vehicle for meditation. Brian will teach the form from the beginning

In each workshop we will proceed move by move making sure all students understand qualities of each move before moving on to the next move. Because of this it is impossible to estimate how far we will get through the form in any one workshop.

Brian will teach these tai chi moves first to level I requirements until the whole form is learned. Beyond that Brian will teach workshops taking the form into the next level, the Chi mechanics and martial applications.

It is probable in the future that Bruce Francis will hold a long form instructor training. The keen student would want to be well prepared, with the help of these workshops.

Testimonials

In November 2009 I was lucky to attend The Chi Rev Workout workshop in Basel Switzerland with Bruce. There I learned D&T movement 1, 4 and 5 and began practicing on a regular basis.

Since then - the really great thing is - that I do not suffer from springtime pollen allergies anymore. This is my 3rd year allergy free.

Recently I completed the online D&T course and I am now able to perform the full set of seven movements with ease.
