Hello, all. I have a question about bending and stretching that I hope someone out there might have the answer to.
I understand that in stretching we activate the yang surfaces of the arms and in the bend the yin. However, for me, it seems that it’s inevitable that when bending there are sensations along the yang sides of the arms and in stretching there is also movement along the yin surfaces.
Can anyone clarify this for me?
thanks
Hi Matthew, I’ll take an initial stab at your question…
I’m thinking that Bruce teaches stretch = yang & bend = yin because that’s the easiest and most effective way to learn activating the meridians. Neigong methods are learned sequentially so they can be performed clearly, but ultimately they can be done simultaneously (after much practice, of course). So it seems reasonable to have some awareness of the yin aspect while activating the yang aspect, and vice versa.
