AnonymousGuestDoes anyone know of any qigong exercises that specifically help heal/fix scoliosis?
I recently threw my back out because of it and found a lot of generic info online saying to practice yoga/taiji.
I was just wondering with all the wonderful practices here if anyone has any insight on a specific qigong or internal martial art practice that might help. I recently purchased the Hsing-I DVD set and love santi shi, but am not sure it will help that specific problem. Thanks in advance!

Standing Posture (first part of the EG series) is excellent for opening the vertebral column, which provides for the improved circulation of nerve impulse to periphery. This alone has helped one of my scoliosis patients to have an obviously straighter spine. The three Swinging exercises will further enhance the strength and connection of the spine to the body. The Bend the Bow Shoot the Arrow Qigong part (the last part) of Energy Gates is more specific and direct to working specifically with the vertebral and spinal column. I think Santi and I Chuan would be the next progression or adjunct practice with EG.
Good Luck. I hope this helps you.
Peace

AnonymousGuestBend the bow spinal qigong is the best qigong for scoliosis. I used to have back problems due to scoliosis but haven’t had any problems for many years after learning bend the bow. After teaching me the basic bend the bow spinal pump, Bruce Franzis helped me to use it to correct my scoliosis. He did this by looking at my spine and then giving me specific postures in which to do the spinal pump. After I had practiced the pump using the posture he showed me for a period of time, he would look at my spine and give me a new posture. Practicing these individualized postures is what really helped me sort out my scoliosis. Now I don’t have any problems with my spine at all and have a strong back. In my case, spinal qigong completely resolved my problems with scoliosis.

AnonymousGuestHi Rodger
Sorry to hear about your scoliosis back problem.
I would recommend some of the preparatory Spinal Alignment / Spine Lengthening exercises used for Iron Shirt Standing Chi Gung as detailed in Mantak Chia’s book Iron Shirt Chi Gung 1 (they are very powerful but take a little patience and application to learn). You may also be able to find specific exercises to help on youtube; just type in Spinal Alignment exercises & techniques or Spine Lengthening exercises. The Alexander Technique and Pilates may also be avenues to investigate.
I hope this helps.
