I’m going to be in Hong Kong for a week in January. Does anybody know a park there where they do tai chi in the morning? Or have any suggestions about where to go in general there?

I only know wing chun stuff in hk. If you want to check it out as something a bit different then let me know. It’s always fun to try stuff out with people from other styles.

    Hi Matthew,

When I went to Hong Kong a few years ago I went to Victoria park in the mornings. There was always plenty of Tai Chi going on as well as various other exercises and activities. The park itself is large, scenic and relaxing.
Other highlights of the trip were the 10,000 Buddhas monastery, a trip to the island with the giant Buddha (Lantau), going up to ” the Peak”, and making a crossing on the Star ferry.
I thought I would be clever and have a stroll around Chunking mansions-probably best avoided.

    Have a great time!

    Hey Matthew.

Victoria Park is the place. Near Causeway Bay MTR station.

Last time I was there on a weekend (a few months ago) I saw some Tai Chi (mainly Wu style – Cheng Tin Hung lineage), Bagua, 8 Brocades, and some weapons work. Was even a push hands group too.

The “oldies” generally go there very early. I am a late riser so I got there late morning. Missed most of the action.

    Sincerely, Gary

Thanks. It sounds like Victoria park is the place to go. I was there years ago and we went to Lantua Island and saw the big buddha. Very cool. I was in Beijing and Shanghai earlier in the year and wish I’d asked where to go before that trip. I found both cities dreary, dirty, and depressing. I wish I’d been with someone who could have taken me to the cool places….
