AnonymousGuestDiscussion about Circling Hands
March 23, 2013 at 8:38 pm #133263
AnonymousGuestThanks for the additional videos on circling hands. Please could we have clarification about what ‘circling’ hands means in terms of shape when the largest vertical ‘circles’ are being made? Clearly these are much more akin to the H&E movement which is a circulation rather than a circle. At which size is it OK for the circles to become circulations without the symmetry of a circle?

AnonymousGuestGood question, you are correct the main purpose of Circling Hands is to circulate energy. On a basic level the external circle does not have to be geometrically perfect, rather it will often be elliptical in relation to the shape the hands are making through space. So it is important not to sacrifice the internal circulation of qi, blood, fluids in the pursuit of a perfect external circle.
As an aside try focusing on the elbows making external circles. This often creates a significant boost to the circulation of energy within the body.
Kind Regards,

AnonymousGuestThanks for this response. As the physical body does not generate geometric circular perfection in any form that I can think of, it makes a lot more sense to focus on circulation as opposed to symmetrical circularity. It also makes more sense in terms of smoothing the CNS, where aiming for perfect circular symmetry has to be more than a little counter productive with regard to relaxation of mind and body.
