AnonymousGuestHi,
Just wanted to ask how others are dealing with counting while practicing Dragon and Tiger.
Personally, I find it distracting when you have attained a certain level of proficiency with the correct form and are now trying to ‘feel’ the energy.
Anyone out there experiencing the same problem who has found a suitable workaround. I mean, just how important is it to maintain an even number – does this have any basis in the practice, or is it just an aesthetic consideration, or based perhaps on some sort of Chinese belief.
Basically, I find it impossible to count AND concentrate on the sensations, which I am led to believe is the next step after mastering the physical form.
Thanks for any help on this.

AnonymousGuestOne of the recurring themes in learning these subjects is “seperate and then combine”. Right now, it sounds like counting and trying to feel the sensations is too much. Try just doing one of those things at a time. Eventually, when it becomes easy and effortless, you can try to do them both at the same time.
There was a point in my practice where I did tons of the first movement of D&T. I totally ignored counting and I would just focus on feeling what was going on. At the time, it was hard for me to feel subtle sensations. Just concentrating on feeling and not worrying about anything else made it much easier to start feeling.
Hope this helps,

AnonymousGuestHi Janak,
Thanks very much for your reply. I will follow your lead and concentrate on feeling for now.
