    good day,

may sound a little ridiculous to those of you who have all your teeth, but anyway…
my upper denture covers the entire roof of my mouth and my question is how does this effect this important point since my tongue can’t actually touch it without taking out the denture, which i actually do in my private home practice, but is a little embarrassing if i drop into my local tai chi class. someone told me once chi is strong enough to go through buildings so it must be strong enough to go through this 1/16 inch piece of plastic, (or whatever it is made of,) in my mouth. but i wonder…
    any suggestions out there?

    cheers,

    daniel

Now this is the pot calling the kettle black, but, I think you’re overthinking it.
I think it’s the intention, if not the direction of the tongue, than actual contact, in your case.

    good morning cody,

i agree with you to some extent, yes i do have a tendency to over think, however regarding intention: yes to some degree our intention certainly will have an effect on everything, but it seems to me alignment from foot contact on the ground all the way up through the crown of the head also includes actual physical contact and placement and i wonder if something is blocking contact what effect will it have. in this particular case my question is, is the chi strong enough to make the contact with little or no lesser positive effect.

    thank you for your comments…

    Hello Daniel,

I recently asked that question in a Q&A which was answered by Bruce. Doesn’t have much of an influence since the obstacle isn’t that thick or massive.

    good luck,

    Dick

For myself I have a formulae: if I feel qi in a particular situation, I’ll follow the feeling. If I don’t feel anything – it doesn’t matter what I do – place a tongue wherever or keep my armpits open or not.

You could also try and compare practice results when you wear your dentures and when you don’t. Because you are not supposed to have them 24/7, right?

    good info thanks
it seems to all be a matter of developing the sensitivity and awarness so we can become our own geiger counter or should i say, chi counter
