What I’m learning from doing qigong and tai-chi in the Old Yang Energy Arts Training Circle is that relaxation is bloody-hard work!!
Nowadays, or maybe it’s always relatively been this way, what we consider relaxation just ain’t what we thought it was; relaxation isn’t the absence of stimulation (or an overdose to short-circuit), effort or work but takes, I think, more than anything else in life, the most profound amount of effort and work to accomplish even that initial bit that can really make you remember/grok what it is in any kind of rudimentary depth. And to me, I can only guess/remember that relaxation is the wellspring of stimulation but isn’t what we commonly associate it as being; in that relaxation is meant to stimulate and stimulation is meant to relax.
Despite my bravado, I don’t know the first thing about relaxation! but I’m sure as shit learning what it means.

Something to do when being too mental or unmotivated (though it sounds like a tautology), relaxing laziness.

Cody, I’m not sure what the aim of this topic could be. I know many people that consider relaxation vs tension as a zero vs one. Then, the question comes to mind: is zero a value or is it not, is it void? As for the muscle cell, with its myosin and so, the shape and potential functioning is there, the muscle cell thus IS. When you want and order a change, the cell BECOMES shorter, but still IS. This playing with verbs is not a game, but an essential item in religion and meditation: the difference in “I am who I am” and “I am what I become”. In this forum, many items are about what participants want to become, and rarely about what there is already. Making the Tandien ready for a nice chat with the Immortal Infant (that IS) is something we want to get to, but the hidden truth is that it is already there. Relaxation is indeed “work” but this work has it’s own secrets: it is not getting there ( as in “relax harder”), but rediscover being there but not knowing it – yet. And the discovering proces is hindered by a thousand things and thoughts and fears, that’s what takes so much time (time as in: “years”). And still, we practice Wuji everytime, we ARE there, but what do we do with it?

    You’re right.
I was just sharing what I’ve been going through.
