Where to put the Energy exactly?

Hi folks, at the moment I’m pondering a little problem I encountered.

I remember Bruce saying somewhere, that when extending the arms, energy should come out of the spine, when retracting, it sould go into it.

But in the explanations to the Yin and Yang surfaces, he says that Energy traveling in should go to the lower Dan Tian.

I have taken no notes which information was in which video, which was a little shortsighted, I think.

Have I missed something?
