I’m currently doing the D/T course for the second time. This time more ready and determined to pay attention to the details. I’ve noticed over the past years that when trying to fit any qi gong practice into my day becomes too routine, I do better swapping it out briefly for another practice for a day or so . I was wondering if anyone else takes that approach. It seems to help when the effort starts to become too forceful and has lost its recuperative nature. Any thoughts?

    I take this approach.

I have a standard qigong routine all week, but Friday / Saturday is different, anything goes. I usually do something I haven’t done for a while. And have a break in the routine.

With D&T or any qigong it is important to feel the energy inside, to be intimately involved with it … if it feels routine or mundane, why are you doing it ? Really better to do less.

Should be no effort, be even more relaxed each time.

If I wake up in a bad state, neighbours disturbing me in the middle of the night, then I choose to do physical activities, cleaning the kitchen, garden, any chores. i.e. I change the routine to match the day.

In other words, I learn to work with myself. I become a master of myself. So that even on the bad days, I can do something good.

On Friday I feel a great change in the energy coming from society. Everyone has been killing themselves all week doing jobs thy hate, and now the weekend comes and it’s party time, kick back and have a miller. It is an undisciplined energy, but also an open energy.

So, I let go of my disciplined practice, and open myself to a new practice, try something new. In this way I flow-like-water with the outer environment.
