Module 15 video 30 may be the best videos in the whole BMP. It certainly is one of them.

It starts with some lineage discussion (which isn’t important unless you are a historian) and then moves from Bagua as form movement to Dragon Bagua to the spherical nature of Swimming Dragon Bagua. At 7:45 Bruce basically explains how this relates back to the single palm change which is the equivalent of saying if you just got this, you’ve got the gist of all Bagua.

IMO, you can’t do Swimming Dragon Bagua without the Lake Palm, but this video gets to the heart of why the fluids are so important to understanding the spherical nature of Bagua and what the one change is really all about.

You could consider these (Bagua, Dragon Bagua, and Swimming Dragon Bagua) clear demarcations or an over simplified progression.

Bagua refers to mundane physical movement or form. This is the stage of movement arts that focuses on form movement and spans a wide spectrum from clumsy muscular movement to very sophisticated “internal” movement like most people do Tai Chi and Bagua.

The second stage, Dragon Bagua, requires an understanding and release of the nerves. It is the purpose and secret behind all of the lateral side to side twisting. This is a huge upgrade over the previous stage and is key to not getting so stuck.

The Swimming Dragon phase is when you go beyond the nervous system and start moving based on connected pressure linked to the body in very sophisticated ways. It opens the door to the central channel and spirit.
