So, you’ve learned all of the palm changes and started to understand integration. It is time to go around the I Ching again, but this time with a deeper understanding of each palm change.

I don’t know if it is correct, but I’ve found that organizing the palm changes around the progression jing, Chi, shen starts to make a little more sense. The first two palm changes integrate the physical. First its yang, expansive aspect and then its yin, binding aspect.

The Wind palm starts to integrate the Chi. The etheric body is integrated and can move the physical as though it is blowing a leaf in the wind. They become one thing joined in the central channel. The etheric and physical are directed by the mind.

Next, in the Thunder palm you learn the yin aspect of the Chi stage: here the etheric body can move in exactly the opposite direction to the physicality and yet it is still integrated. The Chi phase includes your emotional body and the mind. Although, It is far simpler to describe the palm change from the etheric than the emotional and mental bodies.

The Fire palm begins the process of finding and working with spirit or shen. Here you start going in as much as out. The line between blurs. That which is unconscious and hidden must be woken up and energized.
