AnonymousGuestHi!
I have a student with shoulder problems, but they are a bit different than the usual ones. When she lift her arm 45 degree to the side at some point the arm jumps a little bit which makes quite a lot of pain. A doctor said, thats because of too loose tendons and said she should do muscle training and some physical therapy. Are the exercises in the neck and shoulder program suitable for this kind of problem? Or does anyone maybe have some suggestions of how to tackle that? Thank you!
Jochen

AnonymousGuestWhile it is pretty hard to give suggestions without knowing exactly what the problem is, I would suggest one of those Taoist maxims – the 70% rule. Obviously her pain/jump is going to be 100%, so she should be doing quite a bit less than that 70, or even 40-50% with an injury or problem. The neck & back program might help, as long as she again didn’t push past her limitations.
I also would wonder if the pulsing could help with laxity around a joint, I think I heard Bruce talking about that at one point in the videos on the training circle, but I might be wrong on that one. Best wishes!

AnonymousGuestYes, sorry, i know i was very vague. Thank you for your suggestions!
I started to work on her, and teaching actually works much better than i thought. I didn’t used pulsing so far, but very gentle may be possible; found it a good idea.
the first 2-3 sessions i actually was not doing much, because i first needed almost 2 sessions to convince her, that feeling the body and trying to relax is a good idea.. After i convinced her, i was astonished how good she then could feel and relax her body. Kind of triggered a switch in her
Made me more trustful in really get people to understand, what and why they are doing things. When you really get the mind, the chi follows..
