that’s a big topic, mark…
for body alignment, opening the energy gates of your body is a great place to start.
as far as opening, stretching and activating the tendons, at the last MHE instructor training, bruce talked a lot about that, and he’s teaching it again this summer, id check it out.
one thing I did that helped make these topics comprehendable was to stop trying so hard to understand this material using western concepts and language, and rather, try and get the feeling of what the internal masters were pointing out.
I noticed that a lot of the very best people seemed to use very similar and kinda obscure language (Pulsing, chi, kua, shen, etc)
I also noticed that a lot of people trying to think about this stuff seemed to get stuck, well, thinking about something, and would often have an intellectual explanation that did not really further their ability to do the action in question. I came to believe that western language is more a hinderence than a help in explaining this taoist stuff.
at certain times, you would also see people “getting it”, and you could tell that they were in experience mode, not explanation mode. they often would give very dumb or just weird explanations of what they were doing, but you could see they were getting it.
so I guess what im saying is that my advice to those who want to understand the nei gung is this
don’t worry about understanding it until you can clearly and deliberately do it. once you feel what it is, a lot of your questions are gonna answer themselves.
bruce lee at this point might add
“don’t think, feel!”
it’s a beautiful moon, whatever you use to point it out…
hope this helps, best of training
