AnonymousGuestI feel sorry to hear this brian,
I started having a headache today. But as i found on a website, as you train microcosmic orbit chi exercises or just chi gong in general, you should put your tongue against your upper palate behind your front teeth. This should connect two pionts (1 in your head and 1 under your tongue) and let the chi flow easily out of your head to the next points.
It still didn’t help me too much today (probably because i only used the tip of my tongue), but i hope this helps you get rid of the headache.
If this doesn’t help there might be a block, or the cause of the headache wasn’t chi staying in your head.
Hope this helpsJuly 15, 2014 at 6:49 pm #133535

AnonymousGuesti believe that is your third eye chakra, if you did not know you will feel a vibrating there and it will fluctuate in intensity. I know this because i am also feeling the same thing you are feeling and honestly once you come to terms with what it is and what it means for you then it will be easier and more of a fun exercise to focus your chi there. now this specific chakra means that you can physically see more colors and your ki (at least if you keep training yourself to see it) and the vibrating only means that it is a chakra that is open. i would suggest opening all of your other ones as well and meditating more often if you do not already. But to answer your question this is actually a good thing it will allow you to see things that others cannot and is pretty much the next step in your chi training (at least if you want it to be)

AnonymousGuestYesterday during our meditation class, I learnt that sometimes the qi can stay and stagnant at the head area after the session . The student is advised to do kneeling posture for about 20 minutes to allow this energy to flow downwards. Also not to meditate but just relax..during this 20 mins.
Another proposal is to do grounding ie, maybe take a walk in the park, keeping your awareness on the soles of your foot..

AnonymousGuestHi Brain, I think you have a real problem from playing in the wrong way with gigong.Iam 65 yrs old and I do meditation every day for decades and have read about qigong etc. I practice gigong with Energy Arts and find this group very good and more importantly teach the art in a safe way. Doing qigong and meditation without proper instruction or knowledge is definitely dangerous and headache or other physical abnormality like itch, tremble, dizzyness etc is common. Typically at the first sign of abnormality we should stop the practice and take stock to adjust or change the practice. Ignoring the problem can cause serious damage. I am not familiar with P.C-typing.and to cut it short I will just list what I think randomly and hope you can find it useful.
1) most likely your headache is due to chi being stuck in your head you have too much yang chi in your head. Paul Cavel (energy arts senior instructor) said we practice the toaist water method which is by building a yin foundation first. When the qi is activated or induced upward it stays up and unless we know how to sink it down it can cause problem. We therefor built up our system by working chi downward . This is safe and proper because when we sink down the chi (into the ground) cool energy from the ground automatically moves up and the body qi is in balance.
2)to moves problem qi out of the head we do sinking and dissolving, rooting ,earthing or grounding. To sink the qi we literally drop the qi from the head all the way down the body unitl it exist the feet into the ground until one whole foot under. That is the rooting earthing or grounging. We do it by willing the qi to move down and it takes some practice to get the nack of it. Apparently you have a talent to move qi which is your problem. Many people practice for years and still don’t feel any qi not to mention moving it. Building up your qi can give you super energy and mental health but qi which is also a form of energy can be a problem if it is the wrong type or too much in the wrong place. It is very important to be physically relax ,free or not tense,Any tension or stress and the qi will not flow, it is lock up or dissipated or built up there in the tense area. Only work the qi downward and also engage the low half of the body only as activity in this area will built up qi in the lower dan tien which is the yin aspect.and is safe,it is a foundation.
3)another way to get qi to move down is to massage the face as if you are washing your face at the same action guide themotion
downward towards the neck and out over the chest. Also rub downward the back of the head where there is usually a lots of tension.
4)opening the energy gate qigong as found in the book with that title or the fivekeys as taught by Paul Cavel is good in bringing
bad qi out of the head.Mind you, Paul said he took
3-4 yrs practicing this basics before he even do other routines which I think you had been doing. You should go to Paul Cavel website where he explain clearly what is qigong as practice by energy arts, and how to practice it safely. He also explain on meditation. You will find your answers there.
5)In opening the energy gates, the first time I try the spinal qigong that is bending forward and down I felt heavyness in the head and I had to slow down for a few weeks before I can freely do the routine. As for the 3 swings I just do the first swing for sometimes because it works the lower dan tien . The second swing is for the middle dan tien and the third swing is for the upper dan tien(third eye) and you should skip the last two for now.
6)While doing all qigong, very important and a must is to be completely relax (-song-) and the breathing must be relax, slow and long or deep. Breath into the abdominal area. When your mind and breathing is focus or directed into a part of your body your qi will also be activated there.
7) Looking up to the sky especially at the sun will activate the yang energy. Heaven (sky) is yang and earth is yin. Looking ahead is good enough and focus the mind on your feet and the root if it feels natural for you is what you want to do.
8)If you can move your qi, put one hand palm on crown of the head and put the other palm on the lower dan tien and then sink the qi from the head into the body down to the lower dan tien.
9)your headache is perfectly understandable for qigong practioner. It is due to subtle qi energy which only the practioner will know. TCM docter are well verse in qi for they all talk the same thing. but you have to tell a tcm docter that your pain comes from gigong practices because headache can come from many sources in the body while gigong practice is a different source and not many people do qigong practices.
I hope it helps and that you can figure out what to do.December 1, 2014 at 12:53 pm #133539
AnonymousGuestI agree with one of the earlier replies about the possibility of creating chi deviations if you practice qigong, etc. without a qualified teacher.
However, have you seen a licensed acupuncturist?
Here is a website listing some licensed acupuncturists (there is no way from that to locate a good one though):
http://mx.nccaom.org/FindAPractitioner.aspxOne of the books that is used to train acupuncturists is: The Foundations of Chinese Medicine by Giovanni Maciocia.
You might look up liver yang rising (stress can flare this up), Chinese medicine spleen issues (due to worry and different than the Western concept of spleen). You might also look into what the author says about dampness and phlegm which might also create blocks that contribute to the problem. If you describe what the chi is doing, a good acupuncturist can move the stuck chi. I don’t know what state of the USA you are in, but if you are in southern Arizona, I would recommend Dr. Sorkin at the Saguaro Clinic — she is really good at fixing these type of things.
(I came in once and told her the chi was stuck on one side of my body, and she was able to immediately fix it.)If you don’t have access to such a resource, you might also consider muscle testing some homeopathic remedies to see if one is good for you. (Please be aware that if you don’t need the remedy, it might cause the symptoms it is supposed to treat, so please don’t just guess without muscle weakness testing or help from a licensed/qualified homeopath.) Phosphorus 6C or Phosphorus 30C might help — it gets rids of headaches that flare up through the head and are accompanied by dizziness. Most health food stores carry this one.
(By the way, although I am not a licensed healthcare provider, I do have a PhD in chemistry and work for a big pharma doing research, so I am probably the last person to go the non-traditional medicine route, but I have discovered in my own experiences that these approaches can definitely solve many health problems that the MD’s cannot.)
Good luck.

AnonymousGuestYou’re not alone. My story is to long to tell and has no happy ending as of yet. The short version is back in 2008 i done a lot of meditation after watching hours of discourses by Osho. Then some months after the energy had built up into what felt like a ball of swirling energy, which had become quite painful by then seriously irritating. Then one day as i were i about to sleep, the energy moved down what felt like lines down my face, and into the nose/nasal as it did it felt burning, Like something putting a cigarette out on you.
Then i think lost consciousness, i experienced something that i still can’t explain. Like i wasn’t anything and could only see a yellow portal type thing. Then i come back to reality, this energy rushed back up through the none line type things burning as they passed and for about 5 seconds i was blinded. For me it was a near death experience. I was in panic, i didn’t know who to tell or what to do. Or even what it was. The swirling ball of energy went out of control, i thought i was going to die. So i called my mom and sister and tried to explain it…. yeah, they didn’t go well. They thought i was loony tunes. So then my sister called all these random places i found on the Internet, anything related to mediation but nothing helped.
So i went to the doctors, i was so tried by now but every time i would relax the out of control spinning thing would try go down the nose line thing again. So i tried to explain to him, which didn’t go well either. But he gave me sleeping tablets called “Zopiclone” so i went home, taken 2 of them. I thought i was finished, game over. But they did work pretty quick. The next day i awoke, it was still just not as intense. I’ll shorten the story now. The next 6 months were the worse period in my entire life, it would be there every second of every minute of every day. I found putting my hand on my forehead who slow the spin, so most of these 6 months were me walking around with my hand over my head. I tried all kinds of medications the doctor tested on me but they didn’t work. Yeah everyone thought i officially lost my mind. My day was basically waiting until night so i could take the Zopiclone, i found they would make it spin less. An hour’s break from it before i sleep. After the 6 months it was less of a spinning ball but never went away. It would start to build in the forehead again. I lived in fear and despair all the time. So i began to take Zopiclone in the day time. And it would work, sometimes I’d get 5 hours with the head thing at a minimum. Oh and also i made a spiritual account on facebook and added all kinds of people. I was determined to fix it. So many year pass, i explored all kinds of meditations and techniques. Chakra mediations, angel mediations, spirit guide ones. I tried Reiki healing, crystal healing, color therapy, reflexology… yoga. I visited a yoga master a few times. Everyone has their own theory on it. The main one was unbalanced chakra, crown or brow. And failed kundalini awaking/kundalini syndrome. Another is a demon is inside of me, threes something called a kundalini spirit that’s demonic.
Who knows, i know i don’t. By 2013 i gave up, i tried all these things and it was still there. Oh and by maybe 2011 the doctor refused to supply Zopiclone so i brought them in 100s of the Internet. I know it’s not a good solution but they worked where nothing else did. I would take either 1 or 1/2 in the day which can last 5 hours or more, but then something it wouldn’t last so long. Then one before i slept. It’s worse when i try and sleep. So here we are 2015, seven years later. It’s still here, it haunts me like a ghost. I’ve gotten better at managing it somewhat, i know i can move it sometimes if i focus on my feet or wherever. I notice when i focus somewhere it becomes like a heart beat, pulsating. If i focus on my hand i feel a ball of energy forming. Which sounds good, but what good is it? If i could give it back i would. It destroyed me. I have anxiety attack and general anxiety all the time. Anytime i relax it’s there, and most times even when I’m not. It impairs my ability to think clear or concentrate. I feel like the local weirdo. And Zopiclone can’t be brought on line anymore in the UK so getting them has become harder. My girlfriend long gone, my job long gone and my mind long gone. Somehow I’ve kept positive, always believing it would one day be gone… But now 2015 is here and its still here. The world is crumbling around me… just thinking of another year with this kills me. I get tired of writing it, I’m a broken record player. Sorry Brian, this isn’t much help and no happy ending.
A homemade technique i use is put a really tight hat on and wrap a scarf tight around the bridge of the nose. Then add vapor rub under the nose to bombard the senses. Makes you look like a mummy. A crazy one. Most nights thats how i slept. Not sure if it will work for you or others. It doesn’t stop it though, just makes it more bearable.I’ll try some of the things people have said though and let you know if i ever do master it, heal it, whatever term you wanna use. If anyone has any ideas let me know. Because there is no life left. If there is a limit I’m way past it. My next step is just going to the local doctors to get strong meds or become a alcoholic or a drug user. Or all three combinded.

AnonymousGuestI’m not sure of this will help but I’d like to share my own experience, in high school I used to run very intensively, really push my body to the limit, in my late teens to add to this I started a heavy muscle building routine and went from 160lbs to about 200lbs in a very unhealthy timeframe. Anyways in College revisited mediating and energy circulation. My headaches started in high school when I started pushing my body I didn’t really think much about it and blamed it on sinus issues but they were pretty bad bad enough like the writer above mentioned to where you just want to bead your head about in a silly attempt to releave the pressure, they dimmed down a little until I stopped my workout program abruptly in my early 20s and since then I have these killer episodes of head pain, I had one bad enough once that I stumbled outside the house I was working on and blacked out, a coworker found me under a tree 15 mins later. So over the years I found things that help or trigger but haven’t really solved it, mostly for its stress combined with food triggers and pressure changes in the weather when it dips or increases more than 2inHg in a short period. Recently I’ve been putting things together and this is what I’ve come up with
What I think happens is when you increase blood flow to the brain over a period of time, it could be from physical exercise, meditation, emotional changes, and when I mean over time I mean like a lifestyle change so something that is different but semi perminent, your blood vessels up there get used to being dialated, and in some cases I think you push blood to new areas of the brain which usually doesn’t get that much and it can be painful, anyway again if you don’t moderate yourself in what ever you are doing the vessels up there may shrink and what ever causes a rush of blood or bloop pressure to rise in day to day experiences will be painful when it fills those shrunken vessels. Everyone’s body is different but for me if I keep my blood pressure/stress/mood under control and stay moderately active it helps. As far a chi is concerned for me if I ground myself daily outside and do circulation exercises I feel better balanced. I hope this helps someone.
Thanks,
Ash.July 16, 2015 at 7:21 am #133543
AnonymousGuestSeriously dude move the chi out of your head and close your portals on your head. done no head ache. Then realize that there are a lot of people who do this and feel the same way. relax and just realize the only thing you can do is move forward to peace and knowledge. I believe in you and i care about you. so don’t worry and enjoy life, learn all about it you can because the rabbit hole goes deep.

AnonymousGuestHi Brian,
I it seems that you haven’t checked into this site in quite a while and your posting is quite old. But just in case you check back here, let me suggest a thyroid test. I suffered for over 16 years with very severe headaches. I spoke with several Doctors too no avail. In fact a neurologist prescribed some very addictive and dangerous drug.. I also blew out my liver, probably from over the counter pain meds.
Finally saw an endocrinologist who through simple blood tests determined I had hypothyroidism. It took a while to get the dosage right, but now I no longer get these headaches and all it took was to take an apparently relatively safe and very inexpensive hormone. (Thyroxin)
I hope that you resolve this issue.
John C.
PS Doctors often don’ t check men for this as apparently it is mainly women who suffer from this.August 31, 2015 at 7:57 am #133545
AnonymousGuestDear Brian. Reflexology might be worth trying. It helped me, because it pulled everything right down to the soles of my feet. Alot of mental work gets you stuck in your head as well. Keep coming back to a connection of your feet on the ground. Hope, this helps
All the bestAugust 31, 2015 at 10:20 pm #133546
AnonymousGuestChi will get stuck where you have muscle tightness. Headaches are from tight neck muscles. Trigger point massage will fix the tight muscles and save you.
Ive felt my chi get stuck many times and had a chiropractor crack me and had it move right away and go back to normal. Ive also used trigger point massage to move it out of areas where it was stuck. Get the book “Trigger Point Therapy Workbook” by Claire Davis.
I can move my chi at will, but I had Bells Palsy for 2 weeks after being bitten by a black widow spider and for those 2 weeks, the chi would not go past the spots that were paralyzed from the Bells Palsy. The reason isnt always something you can fix mentally, sometimes you have to move your muscles and do something about tight muscles.

AnonymousGuestYes, I have found Trigger point therapy a very useful topic. I have some experience with muscle tenderness, pain and numbness and have no answer for it until I come across trigger point practice. Muscle pain is a real everyday occurrence for most people who overstress themselves or maybe for senior person(like knee pain). Most of those pain can be easily solved by “massage” or gentle squeezing with alternately relaxing. These treatment solve the problem in a few days that can otherwise last for a year or even stay chronic. This sound too good to be true and is in my mind what should have been folk self treatment. Modern society lost all sense of self healing or folk medicine.
I think it is getting more popular after two top notch medical doctors, Travell and Simons, had been actively researching and promoting it and they try to have the medical school to include such simple yet highly valuable knowledge to be include in the medical student’s curriculum.
There is some minor problem in trigger point in that you have to find them (which is usually in obvious place or is found through reading established charts) some points can be in inaccessible area and some can be in sensitive area like the front of the neck where it is not advisable to squeeze blindly. Go to the utube video for some sample of the trigger point.
Qigong is very good for muscle because half or most of qigong exercise is to soften or relax away all the muscle in the body. Hopefully with constant qigong exercise there is no need for trigger point treatment or to suffer muscle pain and movement inconvenient.
Head pain is also sometimes link up to trigger point (muscle knot up in a spot) that can be cure or at least make better with trigger point treatment.Off course trigger point is not a cure all. It is highly linked to those problem that started from overexertion or on overstress and prolong stress. Organ malfunction can develop trigger point on the muscle.
I think people who have head pain in this forum should try to determine the cause of the problem as 1) purely physical like a knock or too tired from overwork 2) qigong related which is also a kind of physical manifestation 3) qigong meditation which is more like body consciousness work 4) pure meditation and concentration activities especially those with spiritual background 5)If in meditation a person met with unpleasant incident during the meditation and when he open his eye to come back to this world and found that the unpleasant incident stay with him.
Maybe these suggests can help to make some sense out of it.September 28, 2015 at 9:57 am #133548
AnonymousGuestIn the 90’ies I ‘ve treated many patients with headaches that originate in the transition area of neck and head. Trigger and tenderpoints, treatment by pushing, massaging, injecting, you name it. But writing this comes down to a virtual and digital approach. So, what type of individuals have this kind of headaches? Let me kindly tell you: the type that “must” instead of “may”. The heardheaded. The stubborn. The child that followed every order, every expectation, every supposition, the child that avoided the fear of not complying (think: Alice Miller), the child that goes thru life ‘head up’, no bowing. That’s a very understandable attitude and strategy. But does it hold thru life? NO. One of the prep-exercises that my sifu teaches me is bowing and rotating and bowing the head again, relaxing, slowly, like my head is setting down like the sun sets down. But the inner work is still there: what reason is inside to put tension on the head all the time? What (imaginary) obligation makes me so stiff in the neck? What fear is behind it if I loosen up and bow for Life? Second thing is the kind of acu-points in that region: gallbladder 20 (I think). Believe me: it has to do with a far-away-anger, an old anger, a forbidden anger, eg in relation to your mom (over-expecting), or your dad (beating you if it was not good enough?). There are of course other angers, but most of the time forbidden, taboo, and they pop up at that critical juncture of neck and head. Think about it. That’s all I can tell you, with the intention of helping you at a 10000 miles distance.
