I speak from experience. Your headaches are caused and maintained by your attachment to them and your attachment and interest in what goes on in your head and disinterest in what goes on in the body and world.

You have intense aversion for the pain. You see it as a “problem”. What you don’t realize is that the only problem is the aversion. It is the aversion itself which causes the pain. The aversion is an intense interest. You can’t get your mind off of it. It is obsession.

“The only thing we have to fear is fear itself.”

    “What we resist, persists.”

The cure is to become more interested in the life happening outside of your head. There are 2 common places people look besides in their own heads:

    1. The body.
    2. The world.

Either of these will save you. Get your attention into the body by doing grounding activities. Laughing, eating heavy foods, getting a massage, sitting in a bath tub, vigorous exercise. Even just standing with your knees bent and arms out and holding that for 20 minutes or longer will get you into your body. At first you will have intense pain and aversion but then eventually if you are truly committed you will break through the pain, the aversion, let go, give up mental resistance and then your energy will just sink and drop all at once and you’ll be able to hold the position much longer.

YOU HAVE TO GET OUT OF YOUR HEAD!!!

It’s that simple really. Some call it being in your head, some call it distraction, some call it ADD, some call it dissociation. Basically you are constantly thinking and judging. This is what the “self” is… An attachment to mental formations of thinking and judgment. Instead, we need you to stop thinking and get into the body. Stop knowing things. Stop having opinions. Stop believing things or coming up with stories, explanations, plans, reflections, memories, anticipations… Just stop all mental activity and get into the body!!!! This is spiritual practice 101. Just be in the now, in the body, and stop reacting to your mind.

Shamatha, properly practiced, will also get you into the body. When you are in the body, you will feel bliss. This is called Jhana. Thanissaro Bhikkhu has some great audio recordings of talks about Jhana and the body/breath connection.

Make the firm commitment to yourself:

“Being attached to the mind makes me and everyone around me miserable. I commit to discovering the truth of happiness in the body and world, for the benefit of myself and all others.”

Getting into the world means doing things that interest and captivate you. I bet you don’t have head pain when you are really interested in what is going on outside of your head.

Get out of your head brother.

    Good luck.

Joshua, thanks, your answer both overlaps and complements my comment. I like to read your clear logic. Makes me think of don Miguel Ruiz too. And even about the new DSM-V view on perisstent pain (see: “Somatic Symptom Disorder”).
Locating the Immortal Child, treating it with TLC, focusing on its abilities and wisdom indeed causes an important shift of attention and perception. All that new energy can burn away the old frustrations, fears and anger. Then the circle is complete. Thanks again! Let’s hope it can help many.

    Hello
In short ” chi sickness” People from west read few books and start some exercise. Tai chi, chi qong, yoga, tantra, meditation, In books you hardly read about people who died from experimenting with energies. The energies in body have to be balances well…otherwise…show. Focus in palms ….why …you read somewhere. Tao masters after many hundreds of dead and 15 000 years of experimenting use final energy to split open head and go….do you want to go ?My advice ..find good acupuncturist ..preferable to be Chinese born in China Explain him what you have done ..let him clean you and forget any more on what ever you have been doing. If you cannot find acupuncturist I left my e mail address ..Let me know I might help you .

You could be suffering from psychic attack and / or a daemon attacking you. I had the same experience with a lot of headaches almost 24 hours a day, I did white light breathing and was able to get the entity who attacked me off my head and my headache went away.

There is an app I have called “The Puzzle”. It explains a ton aboit the effects chi and balance. Please be careful, though I believe all disease is able to be healed, it is best to use prevention methods rather than fix-it methods. I do hope you find peace with this… It may be that you have elevated your consciousness to a higher level and the capacity may be too much for a physical realm if it is not regulated. I have done extensive research on the world and spiritualism within it, and it is not to fear but definitely not to underestimate either.

It sounds to me that it’s a combination of factors.

1st. Remember to always have stages to practice chi.
stage 1- prepare to use chi/ use a symbol or something to activate it.
    stage 2- activate chi
stage 3/4- ground yourself and the chi
stage 4/3- have a certain ritual to stop feeling chi.

Now you mentioned your headache started when SOMEONE ELSE disapproved your usage of chi. Personally, decide if chi is “good or bad”. if bad stop using, if good continue using and stand by your decision.

Also, since you’re chi and chi is you, start some awareness exercise.
So the next time your “headache” appears, you say to yourself. “What’s causing me to have a headache?” you’ll get an answer. Keep trying different questions. Learn to listen to your body.

Next. Try going to a reiki master. The reiki energy might be able to dispel your energy. Have them balance your chakras and check your aura and see why this is uneven. Ask them to ask your aura why is your energy gathering their. They might get an answer.

Also, try finding triggers, keep track. Find what alleviates the headache a bit and what intensifies it. Your body/mind/ spirit may be trying to tell you something. Like I’m taking too many class. Or need to change my diet. Or I’m unhappy do something. You won’t know unless you ask.

I recently went through the same thing. In my case, I think it was brought on by having experimented with a new qigong technique that brought most of the energy to my arms, neck and head. I felt an abundance of energy but the never-ending intensity of it over about three days got to be a problem.

I think most of what people are saying here is accurate in attributing it to the chi energy being stuck in your head. It may be specifically located in your third eye area. An exercise you can try is to imagine pushing the chi out of your feet starting with the top of your head. It may work better to go stand outside where there are some trees and just imagine moving that energy into the ground. Move it down the front of your body and try to imagine or actually feel a cooling sensation as the chi rushes down like a waterfall. Feel at peace, stable, and grounded. Breathe through your feet. Feel relaxed. Perhaps you may even want to sleep. This may work well as a nightly ritual: when you are lying in bed, focus on moving your chi down and out through your feet for a few minutes. It usually leads to sleep. The marrow/brain washing exercise may be helpful as well as rooting exercises.

Next, try changing your diet to include more cooling, less yang inducing foods: try drinking flower teas, eat greens, add more root vegetables to your diet, and lay off the meats for a while. Try adding cooling herbs, such as basil and mint to your salad or greens and cardamom or licorice to your tea. Often, you can let your own cravings be your guide when you feel out of balance.

All these things will help the yin side of chi energy balance the yang side. When the two are in balance, you may discover that you actually have more energy than less, even though you may not feel the energy pulsating within yourself.

Have you tried a simple tranquilizer like Clonazepam? It will shut your energy system down for a couple of days so you can get some relief. Yes, the headache will return after a couple of days – after the ;medication is out of your system. But, you can take it again as needed for relief until you discover a more natural , lasting technique. You could start by taking one half mg. on an empty stomache. It should start kicking in within a half of an hour. Yes, it is a prescription drug. But, most Doctors don’t hesitate to prescribe it. It’s not adictive. Now, please take it at night before going to bed. NOT before driving. You’ll fall asleep at the ;wheel if you do. Its not the ultimate solution. But, should give you quick relief till you can find a better way. In the mean time, stop practicing Qi Gong till you underestand what you’re; doing! Hope this ;helps.

Hello this is my first post in the forum and seeing you have this problem has compelled me to subscribe in order to help you. During meditation I have had such experiences and they really had a detrimental effect in my life, after looking for several techniques for manipulating the energy in the body the best one I found was this simple meditation for the Tao. Focus on the area at the navel around 1.5 inches (3.8 cm) in, maintain the focus until you feel like something in your body is gathering there, it will greatly help your concentration but also solve your problems. Let me know how it goes

Try clearing you 3rd eye Chakra, sounds like you have a blockage there causing the headaches.

wow lots of posts here. I thought i’d add my view / analysis.

The immediate problem can be verified by having someone scan you and look for block. There is a big danger though for any instant solution. You have gone through what looks like some dangerous practices. Building / storing / …. chi – without the basics. Due to this and the very close minded environment you are in it sounds like you are blocking up your own chi. If it’s a concentrated ball of energy it will feel like a sharp pain (as opposed to dull).

The safest thing i would recommend is reading Bruce’s book: opening the energy gates of your body. It puts you on a step by step safe path to building health and power. If you just go crazy and do what ever you want without knowing the consequences you could literally overload your system and potentially die.

    so
#1 Relax: there is likely a way to fix it
#2 be determined i don’t know the damage on your system it could take months to improve
#3 read / understand / follow the book.

to give you more of a scientific analogy. Some people have very tense shoulders. a massage therapist can work this tension out but then it comes back in a couple of days. Why? they focus all their tension there. this tension is created in their mind. Until you dissolve the mental block the physical block will just keep coming back.

Now take this scenario and imagine your mind focuses the tension in your head or neck or eye – instead of the shoulders… see how you can cause your own headache??

There’s tons of excellent comments here. Hope this extra one will help.
