    Hello again!

Inspired by my last post, I thought I should write another>>….;)

This is a question of mixing up different parts of the system into one practice…..yes I realise there can be more than a few, not so positive side effects to this, so I welcome any experiences or wisdom from those more qualified on this subject.

In particular I ‘ve been playing with aspects of open-close and trying to get a feel for pulsing the joints (mostly hands, but also wrists, elbows, shoulders and just today it felt like in the upper spine) very tenuous at the moment but getting more stable with practice.

Anyway, I’ve found that I need copious amounts of practice so after doing a few of the proper circling hands exercises squatting down, I’ve been just working on the hands/arms while standing- ok for a while but then I get the urge to walk. So for the last few weeks, I’ve ended up doing the Bagua circle walking with the circling hands exercise from Marriage of Heaven and Earth- so far so good- except its not really one for public spaces ( I look like a 6’4″ child playing ‘choo choo puffers’! ie doing train impressions!)

Anyway, I don’t see myself doing it forever (though its tempting) just until I hardwire the pulsing in the hands/arms. So all joking aside, I’d be grateful to hear folks experience in this regard and especially from those who’ve been working this system for sometime- thanks in advance,

    Saul

We did a Ba Gua Meditation seminar a few years ago where Kumar had us do Circling Hands while walking. It’s a nice way to work nei gung into your walking.

Opening & Closing while doing the 4 part step is a nice way to get it into your legs too.

    Hi Jess O,

Thanks for your reply……glad to hear that others have practised this way and I’m not likely to be doing something that down the line could be detrimental.

I’m interested in what you said about the 4pt stepping….did you time the open/close of the circling hands with the open/close of the 4pt stepping?

At the moment I just kind of stroll around the circle- aware that open/close is going on in the stepping be it 3,4 or 2pt stepping, but my main focus is on the hands…….any further ellucidation much appreciated.

    Happy walking,

    Saul

P.S. Fantastic book by the way- all my training friends and students love it!
