AnonymousGuestHi All,
I have been practicing the material from the Energy Gates book for about 2 months, almost daily. I spent A LOT of time just doing the scanning and I could see my progress. Now I am slowly embarking on dissolving, but have a concern: it feels like a bulk of what needs to be dissolved is in the very upper part of my body (head, shoulder area, upper back). As I cannot dissolve it readily I spent most of my practice time focusing on those areas, and far less on the lower parts. My worry is that this will just keep the qi stuck up there. I have been experiencing quite a bit of fatigue (which is largely why I started practicing) and so far what I’m doing hasn’t really helped with that. Maybe I should just try to practice sinking the qi instead of dissolving for now? Any advice?

AnonymousGuestDuring the process of dissolving, yes you want to progress from head to feet, but of course you should focus on those areas that need more help. So, you start at your head and move through it in an easy and comfortable pace. The idea of speed is relative to you and your own rate. Don’t overlook your head to quickly get to the more obvious places in you neck, upper back and shoulders or wherever – the only person you cheat here is yourself. Your head area may have a key spot that is tense and maybe locking up the other areas below.
As for the tiredness you experience, the common sense answer is that these areas have been tense for so long that when they let go, of course a sense of tiredness is going to occur – it a normal response. As your body accommodates to the changes it will be able to learn, hold and store energy, rather than constantly burn energy via stress and tension.
As for your qi “getting stuck up there”… You’re dissolving. If you’re not being forceful, you’ll be fine, but what it sounds like is that you’re impatient. You’ve been doing this 2 months and you expect what? Forget about this time thing. I always tell people, “That’s like asking a flower to grow faster, bloom already!” Do the work patiently not forcefully, and the blockages will melt away. It’s very important though that you end every session with your mind in your feet to drain the negative qi you just worked at melting out of your body. In essence, this will help you sink your qi better. Learning to sink your qi is important, but qi that is blocked in the upper body itself can be a hinderance to sinking your qi anyway. This is one of those Catch 22 issues. I think your better off dissolving the upper body and practicing sinking at the same time. That’s my opinion.
Hope it helps,

AnonymousGuestThank you Steven, this is helpful and you are probably right. Perhaps I should move from practicing daily to a few longer sessions during the week. I do have tension in my upper jaw usually, didn’t manage to dissolve it so far – maybe longer pracitce sessions would be more effective.
One thing about the head area – I recall that further on in the Energy Gates book Bruce says not to dissolve certain points (in the brain)…. So I am careful about that.
The tiredness is intense, I mean – it gets in the way of my work on some days. I sure hope this will pass….
Also – I wanted to double check: is just bringing my attention to my feet sufficient for the negative qi to drain? -
