Hi there! Not sure if anyone has a view on this.

I am wondering if the Bagua Mastery Program needs to be complimented with sitting meditation? Or do the (walking) meditations in the Program achieve the same thing?

    Hi Gary,

I hope others will weigh in on this for you. My opinion is that you won’t get very far without it, but it doesn’t need to be a part of the BMP. The 16 neigung is the same. It doesn’t have to be taught as part of the BMP, but it must be mastered. Sitting meditation like the neigung sets give you access to some pieces of Bruce’s system in the easiest way possible for most people. It isn’t the only way to learn the material. Moving meditation is significantly more difficult than sitting meditation for most people. In my experience it was almost impossible compared to sitting. Now I find the moving helps with clearing my system and speeds up the process because the body can hold you back if it isn’t cleared properly.

    Absolutely they compliment each other.
Although they are not different, they are not the same.

I incorporate acupoints and energy gates into my seated meditation.
A purist would say that this erases the value of silent, still, empty, shikantaza (just sitting).
    I don’t care about dogma,
I find it allows the fullness of emptiness to expand.

On the other hand, obviously when I am just sitting in the full lotus posture I can’t walk the Bagua circle holding an energy posture or do tai chi.

Can, however, focus a part of my awareness on the lower Fabriano while sitting, circle walking or playing taiji.

    Explore!

I love way computer contextual editing takes an unfamiliar term like “dantian” and substitutes it’s own nonsense term like, “lower Fabriano.”
The system captures a comment, spins it for a couple of days and then unexpectedly finally spits it out.
