AnonymousGuestHi, I just started chi gung in November and on several occasions now I have felt very ill. I feel nauseous, felt like I would have an upset stomach and both hands and arms have intense pins and needles that I am convinced that bolts of lightning are going to shoot out of my fingers! I also end up breathing rapidly like I’m trying to catch my breath. Today was the worse day as I did suffer from diarrhoea at the same time,
Is this normal whilst starting chi gung?
I should add that started chi gung to help with ME/chronic fatigue syndrome.
Any help would be much appreciated,January 18, 2016 at 6:06 pm #135571
AnonymousGuestBe gentle, take it easy, love yourself. Sit quietly afterwards, let your breathing me natural and deep. Get fresh air.
If you have some issues with the stomach then you might have to change what you eat. As your energy becomes more purified then you will need to change your diet bit by bit. No need to rush, just know that this also happens.
When practicing remember to have soft hands and soft feet, and to feel your body gently.
Grounding practices are also good.
And more loving yourself.
It is good to sandwich together Grounding practices with dynamic practices. The dynamic practices might move some old / ill chi, and then the grounding practices help your integrate these changes so that they don’t overwhelm you.

AnonymousGuestHealing crisis: “The process of healing sometimes includes a healing crisis, also known as the detox reaction, the cleansing reaction, and the Jarisch-Herxheimer reaction. During a healing crisis, you can feel even worse than before you started your detox program.”

AnonymousGuestHi donna!
This is what happens when you do qigong. You expell you body of negative, stuck energy/toxins. This is a process that can be very taxing to the body depending on the strenght of your body and the intensity and duration of your qigong practice. That is why it is very important to follow the signs of the body, and when you have chronic fatigue your body need to take less training at a time to be able to recupararte and rebouild between each training set. Somtime you maybe have to rest ans avoid training for even 2-4 days or more if you have gone far over the line of the body. Thats why bruce made the 70% rule. Which means that you should not push your body farther than 70% of its capacity. For peolpe with diseases it can be even down to 40-50% or lower depending on the weakness.
I myself have had ME and used excactly these methods frrom bruce to get well and it works very well if you do it right. There are other for this forum as well.
ive done breathing, some standing and dragon. In the beginning I had ro be very careful, my body could not hankde much change. I would to 2minutes of breathing and then rest, that was enough input for the body.
As i got stronger you can increase. The body wants more. This is a very exciting process, when you begin to get stonger and feel more and better.Good luck
