AnonymousGuestAm immensely enjoying the Five Keys programme – so glad I signed up for this as it seems to be the perfect next step for me in my qigong practice.
Although we are now in week five I am practicing week four and am finding that putting Circling Hands with the Kwa Squat is revealing significant imbalances between my left and right sides. I am also aware that my movements are not gliding effortlessly but are instead glitchy and, to my perecption, jerky as I try and work everything into sync.
It seems as though there are parts of me very unwilling to let go hence not feeling able to quite fully allow the weight to sink down through the right leg in particular…
This fact would appear to tie into overall imbalance and tension which seems to be hanging on in my right midriff area, right lung area, right throat area, back of the neck on the right and maifesting in major congestion around eyes and in my head on the right side.
I may be exaggerating to make the point although it is my qigong practice which is making me more conscious of where blockages and imbalances exist in me. My personal experiment and quest is to see if, through qigong practice, these blockages and imablances can eventually be shifted.
I can feel shifts happening in the transfer of weight from left to right as one leg fills and the other empties and when the breath fully relaxes and expands to fill left and right sides equally.
I would be interested to know if anyone else has similar experiences and if this programme will progress me into exercises which may really help to bring me into alignment.I would also be interested to know if anyone else is practicing the Five Keys programme / Energy Arts Qigong in the Cambridge area.. I believe Paul you are the closest teacher to me here… I would very much like to join further courses in London. Would be great to find practice buddies / a qigong support group in the Cambridge area!

AnonymousGuesthi Michelle, (i am way far away on west coast canada) ~ am in the 5 keys as well. Have been going at the 50 percent rule, and had technical glitches with accessing week 2 so am still putzing around in week 2. Am finding the slower i go in the movements, the more my body likes it. When i first saw Paul’s videos he put me to sleep he was so relaxing, and that made me realize just how wired i really was. I remember his saying not to go too fast with trying to learn everything, and to build a solid foundation, so for me that has got me off the hook from efforting to “keep up” We have access to all this for months after the course, yes? So I am finding it very interesting to feel as if i am doing this awareness during my work day… (the circling hands loosening up all upper back for me when sitting at computer all day – very nice!)…
Did you try the dissolving exercise? I have only done once but it seems to make huge difference for me..October 21, 2013 at 1:03 pm #133720
AnonymousGuestHi Helen,
Thank you so much for your response – very helpful. I appreciate that I may need to take it slowly and not cram the programme! Not so worried about being behind and hope / believe that the glitches will resolve themselves with practice and patience.
I have been following the dissolving practice and although a struggle to stay with it and not take off into my own version I am finding it feels so wonderful to arrive at such a level of relaxation – almost to the point where I don’t want to move out of the posture.
I have to keep reminding myself to relax shoulders – particularly on my right side – so figure that training my body to do this may be at least part of the solution!
I am finding it encouraging to watch some of Paul’s other videos and am determined to stay with the Five Keys programe so that I can eventually arrive at relaxing and releasing and clearing out blockages to the degree where I find balance!
I love the release of tension the circling hands movement gives – great idea to integrate exercise into your day!
Thanks again for your response,
