AnonymousGuestThis is a continuation of the kwa is little understood. Liu He can be thought of as another way to create space in the kwa, but it implies opening and closing so it is a more sophisticated way of creating space than the method I described in that post. IMHO opening and closing is really the subject of the six palm change; however, that is an even more sophisticated version of the opening and closing. As with everything in this system, liu he has multiple layers. In the 4th installment Bruce teaches some of the detail of liu he in the kwa. The wrapping comes around from the back toward the front of the pelvis. It holds and stabilizes both the lower tan tien and the the cavities of the kwa. This should produce a slight compression of the cavity. This is the first stage. The compression makes more room in the pelvic area by condensing the sphere of the cavity. This will make it significantly easier to feel. It allows the mind to work directly and concretely with the cavity. At the same time, this awakens its relationship with the outside. The condensing has an complimentary yang energy that helps you to feel how the inside is connected to the outside. Once that connection is awake, conscious, you can use it to draw energy from outside the body toward the cavity. If you are successful, the result is 10 times stronger than going from the inside out alone. I think this is an embodied metaphor for manifestation.
Here’s is the extrapolation: This exact mechanism is mirrored in the shoulders. It is part of the six combinations, but it goes further. Liu he can be done at each tan tien, lower, middle, and upper. It also is replicated in the extremities. The hands, feet and head have a similar mechanism. In fact, each has three levels that can be wrapped. They are all related and ultimately each has to be mastered to fully unlock the capibility of the others.
The general principle and learning progression is the top opens the bottom, the bottom completes the opening of the top, the inside opens the outside, and then the outside completes the opening of the inside.
