From what I get from the third video of May’s meditation section, is that the conscious mind (or, and this is me saying this, the ego), while meditating, is engulfed in the waters of the unconscious mind.
To remind the conscious mind that it is so miserable or at least so ineffectual, because it belongs under the water of the unconscious mind and not above it.
When the conscious mind realizes that it functions optimally within and under the waters of the unconscious mind, meditation becomes natural and enjoyable. However, it is this hydrophilia of the conscious mind that turns meditation into something it isn’t, and makes it so polarized by the notion of meditation. Seeing it as a devolution. To me, the conscious mind is a fish that thinks it’s a mammal of the water, like a dolphin or whale; going to the top of the water, pretending to breath and thus suffocating itself. Meditation is reacquainting the conscious mind with its ichthyic roots in unconscious waters for its own safety and survival.
