AnonymousGuestIn the qigong mastery program, Bruce discusses penetrating 1″ and further into the body with the mind.
Could someone provide insight into what that means? Or maybe describe how does that feel? Is it just with regard to sinking – instead of sinking just the skin, sinking the inside of the body? Is that what he is talking about, or is there more to it?
I think I’m pretty clear on how to do it – time and practice using mind/intent. I just want to make sure my focus is on the right thing.Thank you, Eric

AnonymousGuestHello Eric, I might not understand your question- but “penetrating into” ~below the surface.. first I’d start really shallow.. just lightly touch-brush the skin lightly with a finger, then a bit more contact so that the skin moves a bit, then first the wei-chi layer of the myofascia (slightly firmer springiness under the softer skin layer.. then a bit more pressure is in very top of muscle-soft-tissue….
Of course all of this is likely felt mostly via the skin (or via the finger that is touching, vs the flesh being “touched”)… and not the same as just putting your mind there; but in the same way that “put your mind upon the tip of your big-left toe” is tricky at first (and however much, becomes much richer as you can feel more, nerves literally grow as “listen” more- ting)..
but that is different from putting your mind “into” the tip of your big-left toe.. just like attention focused upon your right hand, but move it “Very-Carefully” this way and that, awakens the mind-hand connection, you feel (are) more inside there… but just like a sleep-walker or drunk isn’t really awake, have enough mind-in a part, and that part becomes awake-aware… just as mind goes into a right-hand or into a big-left-toe..
likewise, on the surface, to a bit deeper (think of it as “feel more” rather than “deeper” as instantly mind will try and shortcut and think- deeper is a location, and visualize.. as that is how we see/understand 3d space..* Feeling is ‘not’ 3d space, to places feel, but both places are “here” (where you feel) can’t really compare the two places.. unless you “See” them visually.. so need feel surface, then feel more, next to it.. after first it is hazy, and then clicks… (over time- like “muscle growth” nerve sensitivity, and related body-image, happens “when you’re not looking” so to speak)…
(thus the idea even top to bottom, as well as front-sides and back)– all to a certain depth stabilizes.. vs can feel deeper in say abs-gut area, or in “belly” of muscles of bicep and thigh.. but not closer to insertion pts.. not seeking to use the “base-bare-minimum” nerve connections already have, but to stimulate development of new…
I hope above makes sense, I tried to hint at what I find is a blindspot in modern-culture that trips up this work– luck

It sounds like you know what you’re doing, you’re just doubting yourself.
I think your questions will answer themselves as you practice.

AnonymousGuestPutting your mind in your fingers:
I took a guy to his cardiologist.
The doctor gave him a simple strength test:
Separate your index and middle fingers.
Focus on trying to hold them apart.
Then have someone try to squeeze your two fingers together as a test your hand strength.Try it again, but this time as you resist the pressure, quickly look up at the ceiling.
As soon as you take your mind away from your fingers you’ll lose all strength in them.
This is how it feels to put your mind in your body.
Don’t try this with arthritic fingers.
Always get consent to touch another.February 27, 2017 at 9:29 pm #136172
AnonymousGuestRobert, great example (I’m sure that might open angles to those reading, hopefully to see what was seen in different ways)..
-the ending line suddenly got-me, the thought of walking up to a stranger and just grab-squeezing their fingers didn’t occur to me
(it does sort of work even if you hold/bind yourself.. so awareness on a part, vs awareness ‘in’ a part.. vs mind into.. another angle is whether that ‘part’ is bind -inside it, or a binding imposed upon it.. -which ties to the inertia/momentum-stuckness vs free to change, and present to the “situation as it is occurring” ala Bagua).cheers
