I’ve practiced opening the energy gates, some taiqi, marriage of heaven and earth, dragon and tiger and I just started Santi. I also practice yoga daily, along with dragon and tiger. About a year ago, (it might have been longer) when I was walking my a dog, an 80 lb pitbull/bull mastiff, I started having black out spells once or twice a week, sometimes not at all. At first I could control it. I’d drop to my knees, and do deep breathing, and it would pass. Curiously it often happened at the same place. But gradually I couldn’t control the blackout. And then they began occuring at odd moments. I had been practicing a diet in which I ate whatever I wanted during 8 hours, and fasted for 16. I eat little meat, no sugar and no processed foods. My kids said “anemia!” I stopped all qi gung for more than a month, and the blackout spells stopped. I hadn’t had a black out spell for 2 weeks, so I started doing dragon and tiger, marriage of heaven and earth and Santi along with Yoga and 3 heavy duty core exercises.
The night before last at the end of the second walk as my son approached me, I saw that he was wrapped in a net (which he was not). That lasted about a minute. Aha! Qi blockage I thought. Last night, half way around the second walk I passed out for 10 seconds (with some snoring) according to my son. I have to add I’ve having blurred vision in my right eye from too much computer time, and both are near sighted, which means I’m seeing a haze all the time. Another indication of qi blockage. No, I don’t have cataracts. Obviously I stopped driving. And for the moment I’ve stopped Dragon and Tiger, the Marriage and Santi. I suspect I’ll have to do more of the Opening of the Energy Gates. I’d appreciate any suggestions as to what qi gung forms I can practice, although Opening the Energy Gates seems to be the best choice for the moment. BTW I’m over 50.

I’m not too certain about this but have you tried Soft Qi Gong training? That’s what I’ve practised after attending a meditation camp as my first step to meditation. A 60 year-old woman was a part of our training and from the looks of it, she’s very happy with the result.
