For warm up 2, whenever I try to go lower, I find myself wanting to fall backward unless my upper back leans forward. Otherwise, the weight of my whole body will be tilted toward the back, and I will fall for sure as I try to go lower.

My question is whether or not leaning my upper body forward to balance myself as I attempt to go lower is an acceptable thing to do?

Or is it the case that I shouldn’t even be attempting to go too low when doing warm up 2? The reason I thought that I should eventually aim to go lower and lower is that Bruce seems to go pretty low when doing warm up 2, judging from the picture of him performing this warm up on page 33 of the module 1 PDF #6.

Also, if I lean forward as I go lower while doing warm up 2, will I need to make sure to keep my upper back straight and flat like I would have to if I were doing warm up 3? Is it correct to say that warm up 2 and 3 can almost be combined into one?

Let me know your thoughts on this please.

    Thank you so much

    Hi Again,

Bruce always warns us to keep within 70%of our current level of ability. If you find yourself falling over, it probably means you’ve exceeded your 100%. So just go down while keeping your back straight as much as feels comfortable. With time and practice, you will become able to go lower and lower.
(Leaning forward is part of Warm up n°3, not of n°2)

Don’t forget that Bruce shows very exaggerated versions of the moves because a) he can, b) he wants to make the moves very clear.

    Cheers,

    Erwan
