Request for Bruce to Demonstrate the Eight Palms:

Hello Everyone,

First of all,  thank you for your interest! As you may or may not know we are a small company with limited bandwidth and many competing interests for product and content creation. Filming additional palm changes is one of many requests being made of Bruce right now. As he is currently on sabbatical pursuing additional training in Asia right now and then will be teaching retreats in Europe during the summer, filming will not be possible at this time.

That being said, as time permits, moving forward we will try to capture additional palm change footage from Bruce and Senior EA Bagua practitioners to post into the Mastery Group.

I’ve been giving this a lot more thought lately and I don’t think Bruce’s choice to not show the forms has nothing to do with performing for anyone’s amusement or from cultural bias.

If I were Bruce I would be concerned that students would codify the movement and take his demonstration at that particular moment as the end all, “defacto” way to perform the palm change. As a lineage holder I would consider this the worst possible outcome. Better to keep you guessing so you’ll continue to seek the real answer. This would also explain why the forms are different each time a palm change is taught.

At this point, the single palm change is just the expansive force that occurs both inside and outside the physical body. Until you can perform the single palm change and keep that expansion happening continuously without gaps, you don’t understand the single palm change and there is no way you are going to understand how the double palm change is really that same expansion from the point of view of it coming into your centerline, lower tan tien, and ultimately every point your mind can connect to in the central channel (non-local center of every point in space inside and outside the body).

So, why teach any more hand waving?

Hi Tobias,

All your arguments make sense. But it’s just that you gotta talk to Kumar about it in person and you’ll understand. He doesn’t know anything about technology or computers or the internet. He teaches in front of a camera, and his EA staff has done a fine job of improving and developing the products for people to use.
But as a teacher, he teaches a certain way and it makes no difference if it it on tape or not.

Sure Rick you go up and ask him. lol. Not me, I’ve already gotten cuffed for making too many requests. I agree with what you are saying for sure, but I’m just trying to explain that he’s old school about this.
The feel for a Palm change comes from either making it happen in yourself or feeling the teacher do it. The look of it is entirely different, and in Kumar’s case, he’s not the most graceful or lovely exponent of the form!
