AnonymousGuestAbout a year ago my girlfriend went to the chiropractor. She carries a tremendous amount of tension in her back and has chronic pain throughout most of her body but especially her hips. The chiropractor took an x-ray of her spine and it revealed that her hips were very misaligned causing one leg to appear about half an inch to and inch shorter than the other, which in turn caused mild scoliosis in her lower back. She also has a straightening of the cervical spine which gives her quite a lot of discomfort. If anyone can give their two cents one how this can be treated or corrected I’d be grateful.
Thanks,

a couple of ways to go about improving issues like this.
first, the qigong sets marriage of heaven and earth and bend the bow are for joint and spine health, they can do a lot to improve issues like hers. I have talked to people like issac (long time bruce student) who had scoliosis issues, and bend the bow in particular, according to him (and bruce) can do a lot to improve your alignments.I practice tui-na and qigong tui-na, and I have seen a lot of improvement in peoples alignments through the bodywork, in the hip, legs, spine, the entire skeletal system. I also know that polarity therapy has good methods to adjust the pelvis and spine alignments, and also a good chiropractor or osteopath could help. I have seen a lot of so so chiropractors, and I don’t think too highly of their work, but I also know a couple of real good ones, and they can do a lot to help. a really good bodyworker can do a lot to help with issues such as these, and there are numerous styles or methods out there that can do good, personally ive seen the best work from qigong tuina, but also some great stuff from polarity.
personally, I have hip misalighments and spinal weirdness,(congenital, they are getting a lot better, but not completely resolved yet) and I found that regular practice of tai chi can do a LOT to help. I would recommend the Wu style, it’s maybe the best for spine health. Bruce was able to heal his back from numerous car crashes using wu taiji. I stared off w the cheng man ching style, and it does a lot to help to loosen up my body and increase my comfort and mobility. even if you don’t fix the misalignments, the tai chi can help her body work better and help her be more comfortable. it’s done WONDERS for me and ive seen it do wonders for many other people. If you can get a regular tai chi practice going, and also do some study of the MHE and BTB, that could be a super duper combination.
other useful practices from bruce I might suggest are
1. standing dissolving chi gung CD’s. this 2 cd set is a great tool to learn how to stand and develop your alignments. it’s a basic part of all the qigong sets.
2. a lot of times, when your body isn’t straight, your breathing isn’t good either, the 2 cd set on taoist breathing is a good tool to learn how to breathe better, which can help a lot with the pain and tension, help her feel better overall, and it’s also good to assist in alignments.
3. if she’s got an interest in meditation, the meditation monthly series goes through a bunch of sitting alignment exercises which could also be useful.I hope this helps, best of luck in all.
