One of the most interesting movements in the SPC is the closing strike as the rear leg draws in. I think this is step 6 of 9 parts in the SPC. What I like is that it is a closing action yet doesn’t violate the idea of expressing everything yang in the SPC. How can you have a closing action in the Heaven palm? Shouldn’t it be a yang opening?

The way I’ve reconciled this apparent contradiction is by looking at the big picture. The lower hand bows (closes) only slightly (it is primarily yang) which draws energy up the body into the organs. This is exactly the same action that you should have found and practiced in the 12th static posture except you don’t have to fully close the hand any longer and physically touch the finger tips together. Now that same drawing in is done with a slight bow of the hand on multiple planes with an energetic touch. The big picture is the rising of energy up the body to the torso and specifically the internal organs. The upward pressure and chi movement doesn’t stop there. It continues up the body and over the head in one continuous motion thus completing a wave of upward and outward energy that is the foundation of all BaGua movement.
