The Heaven Palm or Single Palm Change specializes in the yang expansive force.

The Earth Palm or Double Palm Change develops and specializes in the binding yin force.

Wind is the combination of yin and yang. They are mixing, but in a particular way that moves the center like wind blowing a leaf. At this point, it is personally the least understood of the Palm Changes simply because there are too many possibilities and variations.

Thunder specializes in releasing the nervous system and lateral movement. It isn’t shaking blubber. It moves toward the center as you get better and better at the switch.

The Fire Palm utilizes all of the above while adding spiraling. Lateral switches are now combined in two opposing directions while combining them with either a yang expansive force, yin binding force, or later both simultaneously. Spiraling is used to penetrate the bones and the unconscious mind is developed by necessity because the movement is so complex that the normal thinking mind can’t juggle all of the pieces.

The Water Palm continues and deepens the processes that were started in the Fire Palm and all of the previous palm changes. It accesses and develops the bone marrow and all of the fluids of the body. It makes both this and that possible.

In Mountain you take everything in all of the previous palm changes and do it simultaneously in all directions: up, down; left, right; front, back; in and out. It is spherical, multi-dimensional, and stable. The stability of mind that it develops is absolutely necessary for the next palm. Here you learn yang, yin, and both yin and yang completely in all directions.

The Lake Palm change is the last palm change and incorporates the Earth element like the last fist of Hsing-I does, like the last neigung set, Gods Playing in the Clouds, does. It integrates and unifies. It is neither this nor that. Here is where you find and develop the Chi that allows you to understand who you are and then begin the process of methodically integrating with the everything.
