Three swings

Hi,
When practicing the 3 swings of the “energy gates”set as general cool down or stand alone set,
do we have to bring the energy back to the lower tantien to store, or is the idea to keep all organs
of the 3 tantiens energized.I have the dvd & book(1st edition) but neither answer the question.Of
all the chi gung sets i know,i find the 3 swings the best for releasing tension.

Hi Kirk,

Bruce has taught different variations on how to “finish” a practice, so I won’t attempt to give specific details, but the general idea is that returning energy back to the lower tan tien allows the storage to occur (to build up a reserve of qi), then any remaining energy is released back into the body to keep all systems, organs, etc., energized.

I’m not an expert, but I did study Energy Gates in class for several years and still do it regularly (usually once a week). My understanding is that you follow the three swings with the spine stretch. In general, I think that you store when you’ve completed your practice and are ready to move out into the world. That’s what I usually do, anyway. So, if you finish with the spine stretch and that’s the end of your practice, you do the storing routine. I usually finish my practice for the day at the end of Energy Gates, so that’s what I do.

I hope others will chime in with their ideas: as I said, I’m not expert.

Many thanks for replies & answers.As i havn’t had the privilege of training with Bruce it’s good to hear from people who have.Joker,the dvd in question is”opening the energy gates”,which i dont think is for sale any more.
