AnonymousGuestHi everyone,
Just wanted to thank folks from the Ba Gua Program who came out for BKF’s Wind Palm class. Although I may not have met you, I appreciate your support and helping us make this class happen. Some came a long ways for the class, and I really thank you for making the trip. I had a blast at the event and I hope you liked it too.
Me & my pal Isaac have been dreaming of getting him to teach the palm changes for a long time, and we thank all of you for helping to make that happen.
Hopefully we’ll get him to teach more of them in the years to come. Although you may not learn them in the exact right order, it will all come around full circle sooner or later, so if you want to keep learning this system I encourage you to grab what you can when you can and just keep up the training one day at a time.
The basics of the Ba Gua Program are eternal and are never truly mastered. As you work on the more advanced palms over time you’ll find the principles of stepping, four part step, twisting, lengthening, pulsing, etc just get more and more fun to work on.
Good luck and thanks again for supporting the event!
If you have any questions or thoughts please post them here and I’ll respond with any insights I may have.
Sincerely,
Jess O

AnonymousGuestHey Jess,
I had a great time at the seminar. I’m grateful for, and many thanks to Bruce for coming out and teaching Wind Palm and I look forward to the next palm change I can get to learn. Thanks also to you an Isaac for getting Bruce to come out. Hopefully I can get back down there and train with you two on Single and Double Palm Change. Until then….
Peace,

AnonymousGuestHi,
sounds like an amazing seminar. I was thrilled by your posts of the Hsing I seminar, thank you for that. Please, please could you write something similar about the Wind Palm Change class for the unfortunate people who could not attend.
Thanks.

AnonymousGuestThanks for hosting the seminar Jess and Isaac and of course, thanks Bruce for teaching us this wonderful art. I flew in from Aurora, a suburb of Chicago, to attend and this seminar was well worth it. The greatest parts of the trip though was meeting fellow practitioners of the art. It was inspiring and I got a lot out of everyone I spoke with.
Bruce taught the various function of bagua; meditation, health and martial. I noticed quite a few practitioners, beginners included, ‘getting’ many of the energetics/awareness the Wind Palm Change was touted to provide. Even if you aren’t exactly sure you ‘got’ it though, Bruce says to trust your feelings and you will get it eventually… provided you put the time in. Personally, a couple of days later, I did get better in being somewhat aware of my central channel and various organ ‘energies.’
I do have a question though Jess. The single palm change, or Heaven Palm change is supposed to be within all 8 palm changes. Can you explain the similarities and differences with the Wind Palm change?

AnonymousGuestRight on guys, come get with us anytime you are in the area and we can keep working on it. Glad you had fun, and hopefully we’ll get the Thunder Palm Change happening next year…
Rich, the way I learned it, all of the 8 trigram energies are within the Single Palm Change. We’ve learned a few of these over the years, but Kumar only usually teaches the Water and Heaven versions of Single Palm as he finds these to be the most useful.
But in the long run you can do all of the eight energies one at a time or in combination, within the Single Palm Change. That’s the way the monks did it who taught Liu Hung Chieh.
Whereas the martial arts guys have 8 different forms, one for each of the elements, with movements and fighting techniques all it’s own.
Ultimately you can do the Heaven energy within the movements of Wind Palm, or the Earth energy within the Fire Palm, etc if you get to that level, that’s the mixing of the trigrams that is taught in the I Ching. But that’s over my level at the moment…
It’s pretty deep stuff!! Glad to have you along for the ride, if we all keep working on it perhaps someday we’ll be able to figure it out!
