Watching Bruce doing the Wu style tai chi short form. Now watching him do the form I can’t really tell if his hands ever actually touch one another through out the form. Are your hands actually supposed to touch? Now I know they are supposed to touch at the very begining of the form to take a wrist pulse but other than the wrist pulse to your hands ever actually touch one another through out the form? Are they supposed to touch each other? Please help me out here.

    Hi Paul,

I think that what is most useful is noticing the effects of touching or not touching the wrist. This is a little exercise that I was shown by Brian Cooper which I work with when I teach this. Have both hands in front of your body and touch the tips of each finger against the tip of the corresponding finger on the opposite hand. As you do this see if you can feel inside your body. As you continue to feel, try moving the hands away from each other. So as you feel inside your body play with moving between fingers touching/not touching. In which position do you find it easiest to feel inside your body?

Let me know how you get on
    Peter
