AnonymousGuestIn Bruce’s Bagua and Tai Chi book he writes:
“If you also learn the experiential methods of using the six changing lines associated with the trigrams, you will find that the Single Palm Change can be done in 312 ways.”
Does anyone have any idea how the number 312 is derived or what the experiential methods are?

AnonymousGuestMy conclusion at this time is that 312 is a typo. The progression should be 8, 64, 512.

AnonymousGuestI missed your earlier post, but I didn’t think it had been that long since I checked this forum. Oh well.
The 312 thing nagged at me when I first saw it, since it didn’t make any sense to me, and I came to the same conclusion you did, after spending several hours playing around with various combinetric theories trying to see if I could make the numbers work out. 512 works out easily – 312 I just couldn’t make fit. The simplest solution is usually right.July 26, 2015 at 10:26 pm #134869
AnonymousGuestI remember bruce talking about the single, double, and smooth palm changes and about 8 palms, 64, 312 in one of the double palm vids.
