    Hi ,

Can anyone shed any light on the simplist ways to alleviate arthritic pain (specifically in the elbows and fingers ) using energetic practices.. I am asking on behalf of my mother , i’ve been trying to get her to start Tai Chi ,but she’s a busy woman !… I was thinking maybe a particular chi gung or tui na practice that could make a difference ..

    Any ideas much appreciated

    Hey Christopher-

The Marriage of Heaven and Earth qigong is the ideal place to learn how to “open and close” the joints, which lubricates them, alleviating stiffness, and restoring a sense of space in the joints:

I would also look at a pared-down version of Heaven and Earth, like this simple Circling Hands exercise, which features the same pulsing technique:

Of course, “opening and closing” should be a feature of any good tai chi practice, but I think your hunch is right that it’s easier to learn in a qigong exercise.

    Hope that helps,

    Dan

    Hi Christopher,
Just saw your post and Dan’s excellent reply. I don’t know where you live, but if your Mom lives anywhere that she can get together with one of Bruce’s students that practices Qi Gong Tui Na they may be able to help her learn the opening and closing practice clearly and directly.

    Best,

    Art
