After practicing sinking for almost 4 years, having read the book a million times, everything related to this set online, as well the advice of experienced teachers and other practicioners, Im now starting to dabble in the idea of learning Outer Dissolving.

As I was practicing to the Energy Gates audio practice it felt to me that as I sank and scanned down my body, allowing everything to go sung, that perhaps I was already dissolving. I could be wrong but as long as everything goes sung doesnt that mean that my blockages will too?

Bruce talks about aiming to make sinking, scanning, dissolving one seamless process. Could it be that Im dissolving without knowing it? whereby any blockage that comes up along the way is dissolved as a result of my going fully sung? Has anyone ever learned dissolving this way? Is it possible?

Id love to hear others experience of how the process of learning Outer Dissolving went for them. You are all a part of my journey and I am gratefull.

    Cheers,

    Hi Kevin,

If I were to guess, I would say that you were probably dissolving to some degree without noticing it. When I was first learning how to Outer Dissolve, I couldn’t feel if I was dissolving or not. I wasn’t quite sensitive enough to notice it for myself. But my teacher could tell that I was dissolving. For a while I took it on faith that I was dissolving even though I couldn’t feel it. Eventually, I got to point where I could feel it for myself.

I think that being able to dissolve to some degree before you can clearly feel the dissolving process is a common experiance.

In order to be able to dissolve in a more precise and powerful way, you’ll eventually need to be able to feel the dissolving process. This will be a gradual process. Little by little, you’ll be able to feel more and more subtle sensations, until you can feel the energy of a block go from water to gas.

I like the analogy that Bruce sometimes uses to describe the process. He said it’s like going outside before dawn and looking at the dark night sky. You’ll notice the sky won’t suddenly turn from dark to light. Instead, it will be very gradual.  Little by little it will get brighter. Your awareness of chi will be similiar. Little by little in tiny increments your ability to feel things will increase, until one day you can feel it for yourself! =)

    Hope this helps,

    Hi Janak,

Thanks for your reply! Without a teacher to guide me Im going on whatever materials or connections I can make from other practitioners so I really appreciate your feed back.

How can teacher tell if you are actually dissolving?

Will this training circle go through the outer dissolving process?

    Thanks again,

    Kevin

    Hi Kevin,

There is a general progression when you are learning how to feel chi. At first, you learn to try to feel chi inside your own body. Then you learn how to feel chi an inch outside your body. Then further and further outside your body. Eventually, you start to be able to feel the energy of other people, like your students. If you are doing outer dissolving, it means that you are releasing energy to the edge of your etheric field. A sensitive teacher can feel if you are letting energy dissipate that far out from your body.

It might seem far fetched, but chances are you can already feel other people’s energy. You might not pay attention to it with the kind of precision you need for outer dissolving, but you probably already have some general sense of it. You probably know that it feels different if you are standing next to someone you really like or if you are standing next to someone you don’t like. You probably know what it feels like to be in a room that has a lot of tension. You’ve probably been around people that you might describe as “energizing” or someone who is “draining”

    Hope this helps,
    Janak

    Hi Janak,

That makes sense-not far-fetched at all.
Last night when I was practicing outer dissolving I was distracted by a few questions that I was hoping you or someone else might help with.

Other than at my throat notch, I noticed the majority of the 5 conditions I observed seemed to be in my physical body.
Does this seem like the usual progression where sensitive works deeper into the physical as well as deeper into the qi body with practice?

Also, after finishing down below my feet I sensed my qi body was more noticable. I’m assuming this is a good thing and to be expected – any comments?

Also, when I felt I had reached the sinking phase, instead of continuing downward I “hung out ” in that area for a few more minutes- this is something I’ve never really tried but it seemed to make things for more sung. Any thoughts?

    Thanks again!

    Hi Kevin,

In Bruce’s system, energy is broken up into 8 energy bodies. The first four are Physical, Chi, Emotional and Mental.

Generally, as your system opens up over time, you’ll progress from the easist to feel energies, to the more subtle ones. It doesn’t always go in that exact order, but it is the general trend. When you first start practicing, it’s normal to focus entirely on your physical body. Then over time, you’ll pay attention to more subtle stuff.

Being better able to feel your qi body is a good thing, sounds like you’re on the right track! =)

I love spending lots of time on particular parts of my body that are really tense. I notice that if something is really tense in my body it takes a long time to relax and let go off. I have a lot of back pain, so sometimes I’ll spend my whole practice session just staying on one part of my back. Just like you, I notice that extra time allows me to more deeply relax that area. Sounds like your on the right track, keep experimenting!

    Hope this helps,
    Janak
