I want to share a simple method I use to count my breaths.
Sitting with my hands open, I count each breath during the exhale on my hands.
Starting on the left, 1 I touch my thumb to my palm, 2 my thumb to my first finger, 3 my thumb to middle finger, 4 thumb to ring finger, 5 thumb touches little finger, then 6 to 10 continues on the right hand.
I find that by counting like this I can relax and concentrate better. Bruce also talks about improving finger dexterity with variations of this technique.
Good luck and best wishes to the group x mark ford
Just to add: I couldn’t relax because of tension in my hands when trying to count by uncurling one finger at a time. When I count with open hands and just move to touch and mark a breath, my hands are very relaxed.
Hey Mark, yes I do the same, well similar. I start on the 1st finger for 1, then second for 2 until I get to 5 and I just open the hand. Then I start with 6 on the 1st finger of the right hand. Works for me!
Best wishes David
