AnonymousGuestWas wondering if anyone else was interested in Bruce teaching the Dzogchen practice he learned (and was authorized to teach) that he mentioned in his Webinar from the Himalayas?
I, for one, would be a little bit more than thrilled.
I love Taoism and truly need to master the art of thinking about myself but I’ve always been magnetized by any spiritual practice that is about helping yourself to help others (yes, this is implicit in Taoism, but Buddhism is a little bit obsessed with it, as I am)July 20, 2014 at 12:44 am #134479
AnonymousGuestI think it would be pretty interesting. IME when people “teach” this it is usually via “pointing out instructions” Apparently transmission is possible as well, but most people cant [un]do the former anyways. I remember reading that in the 1960’s when a number of Tibetan Buddhist teachers starting coming to the West they tried teaching Dzogchen or Mahamudra, but people couldnt get it, or pretty much any meditation practice for that matter. I’ve read elsewhere, for example Ken Wilber, that teachers often want proficiency over more basic material first as a test or check of the intentions of the student, ie that they arent intending to use their newfound abilities/awarenesses for “bad” purposes.

AnonymousGuestI have definitely sensed transmission at work in the monthly meditations I’ve done on here (Circle and Tao Te Ching), as well as in his books…I even think you could argue that successful writers/etc. are employing this technique in varied regard.
If nothing else, Dzogchen would look nice as one of the options to click on (or would it be under the “meditation” option?) - AuthorPosts
