Would it be safe to say that energetic influence can be absorbed through images say on TV, Facebook or other sources that are not coming directly from another person?

Ive observed that sometimes after being on the computer for a while my mental energy seems to be scattered and I feel ungrounded in my thoughts and actions and seem to act more on impulse.

“Whats me” as Bruce puts it or what I know to be my true self seems a bit distant.

Afterwards I did an Energy Gates set followed by meditation. I cerntainly feel more myself and that previous energy is no longer “influencing” my core.

    Any thoughts?

For what it’s worth, here is my two cents on this.
What you feel as scattered thoughts and mental energy is your mind “reacting” to everything you were exposed to and jumping from one thing to another even faster and more frantic than it might have otherwise. that’s why it’s called the monkey mind.

After doing qi gong, meditation or whatever practices you wish to engage in, all you are doing is simply sort of “re-centering” yourself, pulling back so the “monkey mind” does a little less of the jumping around. That monkey still jumps though.

The problem is that’s just the surface, the real issues are deeper and take a long time to even get to a point that you can start to deal with them directly from what I understand. Still, it’s better to do some kind of qi gong or meditation in response to such a experience than to continue to simply react and stay in that stae.

I think this is possible, although it is also likely that stuff you are seeing in media is triggering things that were already present inside of you.

It can be a very informative practice to browse Facebook or watch the news and take note of everything that generates some type of emotional reaction inside you.

I get the same thing, which seems to get worse the longer you stay “plugged in”. The last couple hours at work are often really unpleasant for me.

The web has been optimized to generate clicks and browsing behavior, so it induces a manic sort of mental state where your level of awareness is not the best.

    Thanks for the reply Mike,

I totally agree; I kinda had a related aha! moment starting month 12 of the TMC the other day. I now SEE the majority of my meditative experience (not to mention everyday life experience!) is just “red dust”- pretty powerfull actually, by simply realizing this and seeing my “stuff” for what it is. Really takes the pressure off when realizing how empty we truly are.

if its not coming from the center of my Being (ie. thoughts, actions etc.) then its just my “shit”:) after we take a shit we don’t dwell on it, we just let it go – or flush the toilet! :)

    Anyways, thanks for sharing Mike.

    Kevin
