    Hi,

As the Taoist Meditation Circle seems like its coming to a close, I thought it might be useful to start a thread to give Bruce and Energy Arts some feedback on our experiences of undertaking this programme.

I think this might help them improve this programme if it continues, and other programmes in the future.

I thought the following questions might be a useful starting point:

    1. Was the programme what you expected ?
    2. Did you stick to it and complete the regular practice as suggested ?
    3. How do you think the programme could be improved ?
    4. What changes did you notice in yourself after following the programme (positive or negative) ?

So to start the ball rolling….

    1. The programme was pretty much what I expected, the information was in fact far deeper than I thought it would be. This of course is a credit to Bruce’s amazing knowledge.

    2. I struggled to complete daily practice to begin with. I would generally find I could do it for a couple of months and then life / work etc would throw me off track and I found myself restarting the programme a couple of times. I’m at the moment managing to practice pretty much daily.

    3.

    A) I think the programme could be improved by making the transcripts available. I think different people absorb information in diferent ways and it helps to both hear it and read it.

    B) I found the guided meditations not as helpful as the ones where you get the instructions before hand. I find Bruce has a very hypnotic voice and personally had a tendency to fall asleep when listening to the guided sessions. (had no problem staying awake with the other ones)

    C) I found some of the instructions confusing, particularly the timing of the practice. For example on several occasions there would be along the lines of “in week 1, do this for 2-3 days, this for 2-3 days etc” and I found there was sometimes 20 days work that you were supposed to fit in to 7. I think it would be improved by having very clear instructions for 7 days to fit in to 7 days (with the proviso that people can take longer if they want)

    D) I think it would be very helpful to have some guidance from Bruce or a senior EA instructor on the forum. I realise that they are all busy people. However you could have a “Questions for Bruce” thread each month and then maybe he or one of his instructors could write a paragraph or two each month answering a couple of the most relevant questions from the thread.

I think the forum has been very good in terms of motivation and sharing others experiences and there are also some very experienced students on the forum. However there is a danger of “the blind leading the blind” without more expert guidance.

4.Personally I have found the practices have given me far greater awareness day to day of what’s going on physically, emotionally, mentally, energetically. This has helped with all my Chi Kung practice.

It had also helped me cope with stress in my day a lot better and generally I feel calmer.

I’m interested in hearing others thoughts.

Thank you all for all your comments and advice throughout the programme.

    Hi,

I am not going to answer all the points mentioned but my experiences were pretty similar.

It is very important for me to first clearly express how happy I am with the material Bruce and energy arts release. I am very happy and grateful with that.

Bruce has immense knowledge that should be documented in as large an extent as possible. I am always very interested in what Bruce has to say and always learn something. The products are usually of a very high quality.

    But….

There are a lot of us who have no regular access to a teacher. For those of us the guided practices or follow along practices are very important to find a start with the practice and keep practicing.

Unfortunately that is the area I find most products somewhat lacking (especially the Hsing-I seminar DVDs which are great otherwise but just not for practicing along).

Part of the problem is that the educational sections (instructions) and follow along sections or guided practices are not clearly separated.

The Dragon & Tiger DVDs and the online course were almost perfect in this regard and a step in the right direction.

I hope energy arts realizes just how important such follow along practice sections on the DVDs or online courses are for us beginners without regular access to a teacher. For the guided practices the same applies.

The follow along parts (as for example the bagua audios in the bagua mastery program) are easily the most important parts for a lot of people and often decide wether I take up a regular practice or not and how regularly I use a product.

……..I agree with both Adrian and Dirk. It would have been great to have a senior instructor contribute to the posts, much in the way that Bill Ryan did on the D&T on line course. I would also favour instructional content that is purely instructional, i.e., instructions on what to do completely separate from fascinating and insightful background and supporting content – so that I can programme my MP3 player to just play the instruction, rather than repeatedly listen to the wider teachings.

The course was life altering for me. It inspired me to create a daily meditation practice.

I am very pleased with the course and will rework it also without the cancelled dissolving part as a next stage.

The course is an important link to a real meditative practice and demonstrated me clearly that I do not have it.

But I got good ideas when meditation is in reality is not taking place for immediately correcting it. Much work though I have abilities now.

What to do better? Difficult to say. The dislike of the guided parts I do not share but the demanded flexibility to adapt to different counting rhythms and lengths needs often to quick reactions. Yvcou are not always distracted when you lose the track thisway.

What CD set? Do you mean a series of ‘Monthly meditations’, Breathing CD (2 CD’s set), or something else?

Thanks, Colin. I forgot there is this 6 CD’s set.

Actually, I was looking into buying it some time ago. My impression, based on the list of content, was that it was an audio version of the book,.

Would you say there is some added content/value in this 6 CD’s set if we compare it with the book?

I just want to add that I really enjoy the Circle. The structure of the course and its delivery make things quite different comparing with what I’d do just from the books.

..good question. To be honest I’ve been focused on the Circle for the past 16 months, so haven’t listened to the CDs for well over a year. From memory they are definitely not simply an audio version of the book, and include more guidance on practice, practicalities and additional information. Someone else, who’s used them more recently, can probably say more. I intend to return to the CD set after the Circle has finished – in parallel with the new Tao Te Ching material.
