I have been a Vipassana Insight Meditation practitioner prior to this course and both in my previous practice and now, working with the front of the body in Month 2 of the Taoist Med. Circle series, I find that it is easier to enter my gross physical body by first finding and clearing I guess what, at this point, I would call the “edge” of my aura. I sense outward toward what ends up being about 2.5-3 feet in my awareness and find that if I contact and relax/clear that area in toward the skin’s surface I breath easier and can access the surface of my skin inward a bit easier. Emphasis on a bit, once I go skin inward it is what I would describe as much thicker work. It’s as if the area outside my skin is a subtle mirror that lightly touches into the gross physical and gives subtle acceses to it.

    My questions:

Does anyone else experience this aura to skin surface area, and what is it like for you?

Also when working with with your awareness on areas within the skin inward, how long do other people stay on an area of the body that is thick and numb (like a metal plate) before moving on or on an area that creates nausea?
Does anyone feel that there are specific reasons when it is better to stick with an area and times when it would be better to move on?

I want to stay with something if it is of benefit, but sometimes it feels futile ( in the case of persistent numbness) and other times I am concerned that it could be harmful (in the case of nausea) and that there may be other tools/ techniques I may not have yet to deal with something like the nausea (just below my ribs and above my belly button) going upward. If anyone knows techniques or tools to deal with this nausea, please let me know. Today when I contacted the nausea I chose to guide it with my awareness down down through my feet. Hoping that is a good thing. Other than that I am at a loss.

    Kind Regards,
    Kelly

    Hi Kelly,

You have a bunch of really good questions. Since you’re new to Bruce’s system, I think it might be helpful to lay out some of the theory in Bruce’s system.

The etheric field is generated by the physical body. Because of this, if you have a block in your physical body, you will find a corresponding block in your etheric field. If you clear your body, your etheric field will be become clearer. If you clear your etheric field, your body will have fewer blocks.

Sometimes it’s easier to work with a block in the physical body, sometimes it’s easier to access it or work with it from the etheric field. It’s generally a matter of whatever works better for you. Which ever way you get easier access and faster progress, is the way to go.

Bruce teaches an advanced chi gung set called Spiraling Energy Bodies. In SEB, you work directly with the etheric field and work to clear out blocks.

In terms of persistance and how long you should dissolve a particular block? I think it varies on a case by case basis, and you’ll have to use your intuition to figure out when it’s time to move on from a block. In my case, there are many blocks in my back that I dissolve for 10 straight hours (over many many consecutive practice sessions).

I’ve found that some of the blocks in my back (I have a lot of back related trauma) require a great deal of time to start changing. I found that I made quicker progress with them, if I was really persistant and stayed with them for a long period of time.

But that might not be the case with your system, or the blocks that you’re working on at the moment. It’s important to try and develop a sense of intuition. Some internal sense that says “Yeah, it’s a good idea to keep working on this” or “Nope, I’ve reached the point of diminishing returns. Time to move on.”

With the blocks related to Nasua I think the safest thing to do is to nibble on those blocks. Do a little bit each time you practice, but leave before things get overwhelming or too strong for you to handle.

    Hope this helps!
    Janak
