Hello. My name is Keith. I live in Greenville, South Carolina. I am a jazz pianist/composer/ instructor.
You can see me at, http://www.innergroovemusic.com.
I’ve been playing taiji since about 1983. I started with Yang style of Chen Man’ching. Later on i became interested in Chen style and bagua, and studied these styles, and qigong with one teacher for four years, until I discovered Feng Zhiqiang about 11 or 12 years ago. As a result of this, I soon became a student of a longtime student of Yang Yang, a student of Grand master Feng, and then began attending Yang Laoshi’s yearly camp in Blowing Rock, NC. This year should be my 10th year, I think. I earned a teaching certificate for Yang Laoshi’s EBT curriculum in 2012.
In the last few years, I begun studying with Wang Fengming, another longtime disciple of GM Feng. He is really great! I feel very fortunate to be involved with these teachers and the lineage of GM Feng.
I have done some teaching, and finally last May, began teaching a three week intensive course at Furman University, where am I also an adjunct in the music department, teaching Jazz Piano and Improvisation, and Jazz History.
I’ve been aware of Bruce for a long time. I wanted to learn a smaller frame taiji form, and this form and course seemed like an ideal way to do it. I’m glad I did! Bruce is a great teacher, so knowledgeable and adept at explaining things in great detail.
I’ve also gotten great information and direction from Bruce’s book, Opening the Energy Gates….very useful and helpful information. I have several of his other books, from which I expect to benefit.
Thanks, Bruce!
