    Greetings,

I’m interested in learning Bagua Walking but I don’t want to bite off more than I can chew. I picked up The Great Stillness and considering about diving into the circle walking section.

I practice Dragon & Tiger Chi Gung as well as Energy Gates (still working on sinking/outer dissolving) and Im in the Taoist Meditation Circle. Currently Ive got about 1 to 1.5 hrs a day, 5 to 7 days a week that I can put into practice.

Honestly, I can see myself learning chi practices for the rest of my life; especially through Bruce’s teachings. I want to do this right and I want to build the best foundation possible so Im able to go far with it. Saying that, I live in British Columbia, Canada and the chances of me getting time and money to train with an EA instructor will likely happen about as much as once a year if I was very lucky. So, this gives you a rough idea of where Im at.

Does anyone have any advice for me as to whether I should be attempting to learn Bagua Circle Walking with my situation? Or how I could organize a routine that would best suit my circumstance.

If so, would the section in The Great Stillness be an good place to start? Or elsewhere? I realize Ive missed the Bagua Mastery Program boat so I have to wait on that.

    Many Thanks,

    Kevin

    HI Kevin,

The instructions in the Great Stillness are good and will be a nice place to start. Take it slow, work on dissolving as you walk.

Seeing a teacher once per year is fine, just work on things one bit at a time, and then when you get a chance, find Kumar and he’ll help you get it juiced up!

    Hey Kevin-

I second Jess’ advice. Working on the walk as an extension of the awareness you’re trying to build in your standing practice is much more interesting than picking up the choreography for some flashy palm changes and speeding around in a circle. At least, based on what we’ve talked about, I think you’ll get more out of it!

    Good luck!

Thank you Jess for your reply.

So, should I know how to dissolve before I learn bagua circle walking?
